Carter Funeral Home humbly announces the sudden but peaceful transition of Mr. Otis Thomas of Banks, AL.
Known and loved as “BBQ KING”, Mr. Thomas passed away at his home, Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the age of 51.
Mr. Thomas will long be remembered for his unmatched skills as a mechanic and always being a true friend. He was a longtime employee of Bonnie Plant Farm
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, September 15, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Life Celebration will be held Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 2:00 pm from the sanctuary of the Mt. Hillard Missionary Baptist Church of the Perote Community, Rev. Mckinley Ross, Pastor.
The eulogy will be delivered Rev. Darryl Andrews
Interment will follow in the Mt. Hillard Baptist Cemetery
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
Otis Thomas was born on July 29, 1972, to the Late Melvin Thomas
and Patricia Thomas. Otis departed this life on Thursday, September
7, 2023, at his home in Banks, Alabama.
Otis leaves to cherish his memories, a loving Mother Patricia
Thomas, Banks, Alabama; four sons: Courtney Bronson, Union
Springs, Alabama; Jerry Sellers, Montgomery, Alabama; Tadarious
Thomas, Union Springs, Alabama; and Otis Thomas Jr, Banks,
Alabama. One daughter: Tyashia Harris, Union Springs, Alabama.
Four brothers: Jerome Thomas, Brundidge, Alabama; Johnny
Thomas, Banks, Alabama; Melvin Thomas Jr., Banks, Alabama; and
Tobise (Lisa) Thomas, Enterprise, Alabama. Three aunts: Savannah
Dubose, Banks, Alabama; Ellouise Pennington, Troy, Alabama; and
Melonease (James) Clark, Dothan, Alabama. Two uncles: Willie
Dubose, Lakeland, Florida and Edward Dubose, Lakeland, Florida.
He also leaves to cherish his memories, four grandchildren: Jayceon
Sellers, Alexis Sellers, Union Springs, Alabama; Carson Bronson,
Tuskegee, Alabama; and Londyn Shepherd, Union Springs,
Alabama. He also leaves a host of loving relatives and friends.
Otis was a member of Mt. Hillard Baptist Church, in Banks, Alabama.
Otis was also a member of A Few Good Men Club and Masonic
Lodge. Otis graduated from Bullock County High School in Union
Springs, Alabama. Otis was employed at Bonnie Plant Farms as a
mechanic. Otis was best known as the BBQ King of Union Springs
Alabama, who won many trophies and bragging rights
