Celebrating the legacy of Mr. Obie Rodgers, Carter Funeral Home humbly announces the transition of Mr. Rodgers, age 84, of Poughkeepsie, NY.
Mr. Rodgers, a native of Bullock County, AL transitioned into eternity April 20, 2022.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, May 13, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farwell Celebration at Graveside will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Cemetery, Midway, AL. Rev. William Joe Glover, pastor of the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church will deliver the message of comfort and hope. Mr. Obie Rodgers, son of the late Minnie Lee Lewis Rodgers and Theodore Rodgers was born August 19, 1937 in Midway, AL.
His early religious training was received at the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in the Pine Grove Community. Educated in the public schools of Bullock County, Mr. Rodgers spent his adult life as a seasonal laborer on various farming operations. Mr. Rodgers was known to many as a loving, kind and hardworking man. He was also preceded in death by his loving family members, son, Oliver Rodgers, brother, Jamie Lee Rodgers, and sisters, Sara Mae Tarver, Mable Jean Roundtree.
Loving memories will be cherished by his longtime companion, Judy Veach, Poughkeepsie, NY, his children, Katrina (Walter) Rodgers Day, Altamonte Springs, FL, Elisa L. Rodgers, Orlando, FL., L C (Ruby) Rodgers, Headland, AL, Mattie (Terry) Rodgers, Union Springs, AL., and Obie Rodgers, Utica, NY; his nineteen grandchildren, fifty four great grandchildren, twenty great great grandchildren; his sister, Annie Anderson, brothers, Climmie Rodgers, Arthur Rodgers and Theodore Rodgers, all of Orlando, FL; and numerous other relatives and friends.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
