Shirley: After speaking to you at the funeral on yesterday, I learned that you are NOT a member of Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc. I am so sorry about the "mix-up" but someone had told me that you had joined the Graduate Chapter. Anyway, we still love you and for NOW, we will just consider you an HONORARY member, lol! We love you!
Like many others, I was blessed to share a close bond with Lloyd. Notably,he and I were both born on January 30th, his Ivy cousins are also my cousins, and he and I just had a mutual admiration society-of-two. I usually referred to him as "Coach," and he held me in much higher esteem than I ever deserved. He was always so-oooooo complimentary about what he thought of my abilities. We exchanged emails practically every day for a long time -- until 8-23-23, when his last message was just these three words: "Temptations, GET READY." I can't tell it all. So to Shirley, Nadine, and all of Lloyd's family and dear friends, I offer this comforting reminder: just as certain as our salvation in Christ is secure, we shall see Lloyd again! Amen. Amen. Amen.

Condolences to Shirley and the Ivy family. It has been said that you only live once and if you do it right once is all you need. Lloyd was blessed with a caring family and an army of unwavering friends. He was my college roommate and I got to see firsthand the passion he had for others and the passion others had for him. We started this journey over 55 years ago as friends and over the years we became brothers. See you on the other side Lloyd. Stanley Powell
