Carter Funeral Home humbly and honorably announces the peaceful transition of Mr. Lewis Edward Davis, (67) of Troy, AL. Affectionately known as “Lewie”, Mr. Davis transitioned into eternity on August 25, 2022, in Opelika, AL.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Celebration at Graveside will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 10:00 am est. from the Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Pastor Evins Faulk, Jr. of the Sweet Gum AME Zion Church of Shorter will deliver the message of comfort.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
LEWIS E. Davis known as “Lewie” was born to the late Willie and Leslie Bell Davis on October 19, 1954 in Beaver Falls, PA. Growing up, Lewie was the 8th child of 9 siblings.
In his early years of life, Lewie enlisted in the United States Army. There he served 6 years, where he received his GED went to Southern Vocational College and graduated in Lab Technology and the Culinary Arts in Tuskegee, Alabama. There he married Tonya Spann and had his first and second child Anthony and Ashford Davis. After their relationship ran its course, he moved to his family hometown Midway, Alabama. He met Ethel Milbery and had his third child, Loukeisha Huff. After his 6 years in the Army, he was honorably discharged and began his career at the Alabama Department of Transportation where he retired after 15 years. After retirement, he lived life to the fullest.
Lewis transitioned from this life on August 25, 2022. Preceding him in death was his brothers: Willie Andrew, Hoover, AL and Walter Lee Davis, Marletta, GA; and his sister, Annie Kate, Rochester, PA.
Left to cherish his memory: his sons: Anthony and Ashford Davis; his daughter, Loukeisha (Lewis) Huff; step- daughter, Courtney Milbry; grandsons: Keyonte Davis, Eljay Huff, King Huff, Navie Huff, and Blue Huff; siblings: Viola (Robert) Murray, Mae Lois Cuspard, Loretta Wesley, Albert Davis, and Clifford Davis; sister-in-law, Wylene; best friend and brother, Joe Lee McMillan; best friend and brother, Jessie Hall; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
