Carter Funeral Home humbly and honorably announces the peaceful transition of Mr. Leon Miles of Chipley, FL.
Mr. Miles, 69, a native of Midway, AL, fondly known as “Moot” transitioned into eternity on March 12, 2022, at the Northwest Florida Community Hospital.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, March 18, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home. The Farewell Celebration at Graveside will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022, at 2:00 pm from the Sandtown Cemetery of Midway. Pastor Jeffery Fortson of the Mt. Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church will deliver the message of comfort.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
Mr. LEON “Moot ” MILES was born to the late Joseph Rivers and the late Fannie Mae Rodgers in Clayton, Alabama on July 30, 1952. He peacefully answered the Master’s call to eternal peace on March 12, 2022 at the Northwest Florida Community Hospital in Chipley, Florida.
"Moot" accepted Christ at First Missionary Baptist Church and served until he moved to Vernon, Florida.
As a young child, he was reared by great-grandparents, the late Peter and Mattie Miles. "Moot's" passion was farm work and telling jokes. He had a great sense of humor. "Moot" treasured the times he spent with his loved ones. A “TAB” soda was his best friend, right alongside a milky way bar. He loved music and held on dearly to his radio. "Moot" was passionate and humble; he loved “people” and never met a stranger.
He was preceded by in death by his parents, Joseph Rivers and Fannie Mae Rodgers; sister, Sally Bea Rodgers; grandmother, Lucille Miles Cowan; and his favorite nephew, Gregory Anglin.
"Moot's" fondest memories will be cherished by his sisters, Authur Mae Anglin and Alice Tarver, both of Midway, AL; nieces, Pamela (Lacy) Anglin, Midway, AL, Samarow Bowens, Union Springs, AL, and Georgia Bascomb, Montgomery, AL; nephews, Eric Holliday, Midway, AL and Tommie Holliday, Jr., Brent, AL; aunt, Ollie B. Rodgers; a dedicated niece and nephew, Adrianne Rodgers Byers (Robert), Eufaula, AL; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends
