Carter Funeral Home announces the peaceful transition of Rev. L. T. Lawson Sr., 78, of Montgomery, Alabama.
Rev Lawson, an Associate pastor of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church of the Aberfoil Community transitioned September 26, 2020.
Celebration of Life Services and Interment will be held Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 3:00 pm from the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Cemetery
Public visitation will be held Friday, October 2, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
All services and visitations will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols. Facial coverings for all attendees are mandated per an executive order of the Governor of the State of Alabama. Minister L. T. Lawson, Sr. was born March 13, 1942, to the late F.T. and Whittie Mae Lawson. Pastor Lawson, a longtime resident of Ozark, Alabama, often called Lawyer T., ministered throughout the area over 40 years pastoring several churches. He retired from pastoring at the Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Seale, Alabama in 2013 due to failing health. Reverend Lawson continued his preaching and singing ministry as an associate minister at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church, Union Springs, Alabama, until his journey’s end on Saturday, October 26, 2020.
Reverend Lawson was preceded in death by his parents, F.T. and Whittie Mae; sisters, Wonnie Rosbia, Annie Bowens, and Ora Lee Ruley; brother, Johnny Frank Lawson; stepson, Damond Allen; nephews, Charles Prater and Wallace Lester Ruley, Jr.; great niece, Zoe Lawson, and great nephew, Savoy Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Winona Faye; children, Zera Shipman and Earnest Payne of Houston, Texas, Cynthia Shipman, Antonio Lawson, and Tridina Lawson of Ozark, Alabama, L. T. Jr. (Paula) Lawson of Omaha, Nebraska, Gregory (Tracy aka “daughter”) Lawson of Dothan, Alabama, Freddy (Michelle) of Montgomery, Alabama, two step-children, David Allen, Jr (Zenobia) of Decatur, Georgia, and Quishawndra (Charles) Baker of Union Springs, Alabama, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Faye I just saw this at 3:40 a.m. Subday morning. I woke up Calvin to tell him. We are so sorry. We would have been there with you. We did not know!!!We have many fond memories from Anniversay trip to Florida to hair cut in the shop..We love you truly and know our prayers are with you...Jesus said "He will call, the dead shall answer...oh a grand reunion soon...just around the corner!!!
