Obituary For Kenneth Wayne Scott
Carter Funeral Home humbly announces the transition of Mr. Kenneth Wayne Scott of Union Springs, Alabama.
Celebration of Life Services and Interment for this Veteran of the United States Air Force, will be held Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 12:00 noon from the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Cemetery.
Pastor Hawthorne Reed of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist church will provide the supportive message of comfort and acceptance.
Public visitation will be held Friday, September 25, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
All services and visitations will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols. Facial coverings for all attendees are mandated per an executive order of the Governor of the State of Alabama.
On Thursday, September 17, 2020, the angel of silence came and with chilly fingers sealed his lips, Mr. Kenneth Wayne Scott, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His soul winged its flight from this world of sin, sorrow, and pain to a place of eternal rest.
Kenneth was born December 1, 1957, in Bullock County, Alabama to the late Mrs. Annie Mae Anderson and Mr. Sylvester Scott. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby Burgan and Bettye Price. He confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend L. D. Days. Kenneth taught courses on computer literacy, was a member of the Senior Usher Board, and served as a Christ faithfully under Pastor Hawthorne Reed.
He was a 1976 graduate of Bullock County High School, Union Springs, Alabama. Upon graduating, Kenneth enlisted in the United States Air Force. In 1993, he retired and returned home after serving his country faithfully and honorably. As a civilian, he enrolled at Wallace Community College (previously Sparks State Technical College) where he received degrees in computer information systems, accounting technology, and electrical technology. He was also employed as a bus driver and professional tutor for TRIO Student Support Services at WCC and made an everlasting impact in higher education.
Kenneth leaves to mourn his passing, a devoted son, Keith (Dontrinice) Scott, a granddaughter, Lyric Cowan all of Union Springs, Alabama; eight sisters, Mrs. Anne (Melvin) Gregory, Flint, Michigan, Ms. Billie Hazzard, Union Springs, Alabama, Mrs. Annie (Frank) Lee, Detroit, Michigan, Ms. Bonnie Newby, Flint, Michigan, Mrs. Florida (Henry) Major, Rochester, New York, Mrs. Marilyn (George) King, Akron, Ohio, Ms. Vena Garrett, Union Springs, Alabama, Mrs. Pamela (Gregory) Patterson, Midway, Alabama; four brothers, Mr. William Anderson, Union Springs, Alabama, Mr. George Duane (Margaret) Anderson, Mr. Brandon (Pandora) Holmes, Mr. Willie Earl Garrett, Union Springs, Alabama; twenty-one nephews, thirteen nieces; best friend, Mr. Eddie Hicks, Warner Robins, Georgia; two special friends, Mr. Jerry Maddox and Mr. Willie Reed; his Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church family and a host of other relatives and friends.

I have so many fond memories of Scott. I met Scott when he was stationed at Robins Air Force Base. He was always the life of the party. He was the Best Man in my wedding. I will forever cherish those great memories of my dear friend. God speed and blessing to each of you.
Kenneth was a friend like no other. He brought a smile to my face every Sunday morning in church. He will truly be missed. We loved him, but God loved him the most. RIP my friend.

I was Scott's roommate when we were stationed at Minot, N. Dakota. Good times on the ball fields and just having conversations. Just a good dude. Sincere condolences to the family.
