Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. John LyDell Jones, of Union Springs, Alabama.
Affectionately known as “Dell”, Mr. Jones, 41, transitioned into eternal life November 27, 2021, at his residence in the Newtown Community.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Saturday, December 4, 2021, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Farewell services at Graveside will be held Sunday, December 5, 2021, at 2:00 pm from the St. John AME Cemetery, Union Springs, AL. Pastor Thomas Pritchett, Sr. of the Mallard Chapel AME Zion Church will deliver the message of comfort.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
John Lydell Jones was born December 6, 1979, in Tuskegee, Alabama to the late John and Lucy Smith Jones.
He accepted Christ at an early age at the St John AME Church in Union Springs, AL.
John was a family man and loved his family dearly He truly had a “Heart of God” and those that knew him affectionately called him “Dell” (Black).
On Saturday, November 27, 2021, he departed this earthly life and reunited with his parents.
Dell will always be remembered by his wife, Shaeavia Jones, three beautiful children, Chelsea, Kelsey, and LyDell Jones, all of Union Springs, AL; his four sisters, Carrie (Jerry) Howard, Union Springs, AL Cynthia (Charles) Henderson, Columbus, GA, Gloria Watts, Tuskegee, AL and Jennifer (Rickey) Lewis, Montgomery, AL: seven brothers, Johnny B. (Janice) Jones, Dothan, AL, Reggie (Deloris) Jones, Union Springs, AL, Darren Christian, Union Springs, AL , Michael Christian, Atlanta, GA, Myron Christian, Montgomery, AL, Henry Williams, Union Springs, AL and Terry Perry, Union Springs, AL, his mother in law, Willie Mae (Derrick) Sterling, Montgomery, AL; his uncles, Joe Turner(Novella) Smith and Henry Smith Union Springs, AL and Santavious Bennett, Montgomery, AL, his three nieces, Kimberley (John ) Gray, Montgomery, Al Monyetta Smith and Jeralyn Howard, Union Springs, AL: his great nephew, Zaylon Johnson, Montgomery, AL along with numerous nieces, nephews cousins friends and loved ones.

I am very saddened to learn of the passing of Dell. I met Dell at the Dialysis Center as we were both patients there. He was kind, soft spoken and well mannered. I will never forget him for he was the epitome of what a young man should be like. I offer my sincere condolences to his family at this time. Rest well my friend until we meet again.
