Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr.John L. Earls, 69, of Midway, Alabama on June 11, 2018.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 11:00 am from the sanctuary of the St. Mark AME Church, Hurtsboro, Alabama (Guerryton Community), Rev. Antonio James, pastor.
The message of comfort and strength will be delivered by the Rev. John Leonard, pastor of St. James AME Church, Goodwater, Alabama
Interment will follow in the Cooper Chapel AME Zion Church Cemetery, Warrior Stand Community.
John Earls was born on January 31, 1949 to Mrs. Annie B. Earl and the late Mr. William Earl, Sr. in Bullock County, Alabama. Mr. John Earls confessed Christ at an early age and joined St. Mark A.M.E Church (Guerryton Community) Hurtsboro, Alabama.
He served as Treasurer, Member of the Steward Board, and Member of the Trustee Board for many years. John Earls married Dorothy Earls, who he affectionately nicknamed “Woman”. Dorothy preceded him in death in August 2017. John Earls graduated from Merritt High School in 1968. John Earls was owner/operator of Earls Paint & Body Shop, LLC for over 30 years. He had a passion for collecting and restoring vintage cars. John always referred to his employees as “My Boys” and they referred to him as “Boss Man or Pops”.
John Earls departed this life on Monday, June 11, 2018.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted daughter, Johnnay Earls, Phenix City, Alabama; mother, Annie B. Earl, Midway, Alabama; brother, William (Addie) Earl Jr, Atlanta, Georgia; eight sisters, Isabella Walker, Midway, Alabama, Mary (Michael) Todd, Stone Mountain, Georgia, Irene Earl, Riverdale, Georgia, Edna EarlPhillips, Akron, Ohio, Mable Earl, Sharpsburg, Georgia, Alice Earl Williams, Atlanta, Georgia, Lucy Earl, Forest Park, Georgia, Berneda Earl, Detroit, Michigan; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Chambliss, Emma (Willie) Wright, Beatrice Donner, three brothers-in-law, Clint (Denise) Doner, Tuskegee, Alabama, Michael (Christina) Donner, Keith (Lora) Baker, both of Montgomery, Alabama; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special friends, Robert Rogers, Will Tolbert, Willie Thomas, Arthur Love, William Graham.
