Carter Funeral Home announces the restful transition of Minister Janie N Mims of Union Springs, Alabama on June 24, 2021.
Minister Mims, 70, entered eternal rest while being comforted by her devoted family.
The Commemoration of Life Services will begin with a public visitation Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Celebration at graveside will be held Friday, July 2, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Mallard Chapel AMEZ Cemetery of Midway, Alabama. The service will be live streamed. (see clickable link below)
Apostle William P. Brinkley, pastor of the Fortified City Revival and Conference Center will deliver the message of triumph.
Attendees at all visitations and services are requested to wear appropriate facial coverings.
Janie N. Mims was born on May 12, 1951 in Union Springs, AL. to the late Joseph Walker, Sr. and Gurlie Mae Cargle Walker.
Janie N. Walker confessed Christ at an early age and had a passion and fire for Christ that she proclaimed proudly. Her unwavering faith in Jesus could be felt and she later united with Fortified City Revival and Conference Center. She served the Lord with her fullest capacity and served in many different capacities including preacher, teacher, evangelist, intercessor, prophetess and mother of the Fortified Center family.
She was a prayer warrior and a mentor to many women.
Janie graduated from Bullock County Technical High School in 1970 and immediately after high school matriculated to Corona, New York where she worked for Metropolitan Insurance Company.
After receiving the call to help her parents, she unselfishly returned home to devote her life to the care of her family.
After returning to Union Springs, AL she worked for Carter Funeral Home and dedicated many years where she had a call to comfort and care for those who were at a vulnerable time of their lives.
Upon returning home she met her beloved husband, John Henry Mims and on January 31, 1986 they were married.
She was devoted to serving her husband and to being a Godly wife. She is affectionately known by her husband as "Sweetie" They were married 35 years and she was a steadfast advocate of marriage.
On Thursday, June 24th, Janie was called home to be with her savior surrounded by her loving family.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, Joseph and Gurlie Mae Walker, one sister and three brothers.
Janie leaves to cherish her legacy, her husband, John H. Mims, her son McKinley (Tara) James Spring Hill, TN. and beloved daughter Gurlie Mims, Prattville, AL; Two grandchildren affectionately known as her two little buttons, McKyan and Trinity James of Spring Hill, TN., three sisters, Annie C. Gibson, Evergreen Freemen, both of Union Springs, AL., and Brenda W. Robinson, Shalimar, FL; three brothers Joseph Walker (Mahalia) White Plains, NY, Paul Walker (Sammie) Union Springs, AL, and Jeremiah Walker (Shenella) El Paso, TX.; four sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous other relatives and friends including her special friends Sister Hazel Cooks, Cleveland, OH. sister Camilla Youngblood, and sister Lucille Harris both of Union Springs, AL.
As a family we extend a special thanks to Sheila Faniel for her dedicated service to the care of Janie Mims, along with a special thanks to Evergreen Freeman, Brenda Robinson and Betty Gibson. There is nothing like a sisters bond - a built in best friend and love.
