Carter Funeral Home is humbled to announce the transition of Mr. James Harris, 70, of Union Springs, Alabama on Saturday, September 23, 2017.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at graveside, Saturday, September 30,2017 at 11:00 from Mason Cemetery, Union Springs, Alabama.
Words of comfort will be delivered by the Rev Willie Banks,Jr, pastor of the St.Paul Baptist Church.Armstrong Community.
Interment with Military Honors will follow all services
Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, September 29, 2017 from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
James Melvin Harris was born June 16, 1947 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Ann Calloway James. He departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest on September 23, 2017. At an early age James accepted Christ and joined the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Armstrong, Alabama. James was a very loving person, full of life. He touched many hearts and was loved by many. On September 23, 2017 the Lord came and gave him rest. He was preceded in death by his father Frank Calloway. James leaves to cherish his memories a devoted and loving mother, Ann Calloway; three(3) children: Anthony Harris, Christane Harris, and James Harris, all of Elyria, OH; a very devoted cousin: Vera Mahone; seven(7) sisters: Marian (John) Thomas, Lisa Calloway, Rosie (Henry) Thrasher, Annie Joyce Finney, all of Union Springs, AL., Lizzie (Willie) Mitchell of Decatur, Georgia, Jennie (Doug) Moore of Tuskegee, AL., and Catherine Thrasher of Rochester, N.Y.; uncles: Lucky (Mary) Thrasher of Union Springs, AL. and Jessie (Bettye) Calloway of Decatur, GA.; and a host of other family and friends.
