Carter Funeral Home announces the peaceful transition of Mr. Jamaris M. Smith of Union Springs, AL.
Mr. Smith, 33, transitioned into eternal life, March 4, 2021 in Montgomery, Alabama.
Celebration of: Life Services and Interment will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 am from the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Cemetery.
Pastor Roosevelt Grant will deliver the message of comfort. Public visitation will be held Friday, March 12, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
All visitations and services will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols including the use of appropriate facial coverings.
Mr. Jamaris Marrez Smith, affectionately known as “Rez”, was born July 1, 1987 to Morris and Cathy B. Smith at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama.
Jamaris received his education in the Bullock County School System. He graduated May 17, 2005. He was employed with Hanon Systems, Shorter, Alabama from October 5, 2005 to the present.
Although Jamaris confessed Christ and was baptized at The Church of the Highlands in Auburn, AL on May 6, 2018, he spent most of his Sundays at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.
For those that knew Jamaris, knew he was a loving, humble, quiet guy. His love for fixing cars led him to become the technician and parts man for The Racing Crew. He traveled to several major races with family and friends.
Jamaris was proceeded in death by his grandfathers, John Smith and Rev. Willie D. Babers.
Jamaris will forever be loved and cherished by his parents - Morris and Cathy B. Smith; a brother - Michael Calhoun; grandparents - Wilma Babers, Effie Smith and Lawrence (Jessie) Penn; aunts - Shirley Christian, Gwendolyn Babers, Laneshia Babers, and Erika (Cedrick) Rembert; uncles - Randolph Smith, Larry Smith, Johnny (Vanessa) Smith; Ray Smith; Willie (Janelle) Babers, Jr., Tyrone Babers, Kenneth (Carmella) Penn, and Myron (Karen) Penn; nephews - Mikael Calhoun and Michael Calhoun, Jr.; a host of great uncles and aunts, cousins and friends. A very special cousin/brother - Darius Smith; special friends - Lisa Collins, Quintin Blakely, and The Racing Crew.
