Carter Funeral Home humbly and honorably announces the peaceful transition of Deacon Henry Thomas Ivey, Jr., (79) of Union Springs, Alabama.
Deacon Ivey, lovingly known as T. Ivey transitioned into eternity on July 25, 2022, at his residence in the Bread Tray Hill Community, while under the watchful care of his loving family.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, July 29, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Celebration will be held Saturday, July 30, 2022, at 11:00 am from the sanctuary of the Old Sardis Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Dr. James H. Gochett will deliver the message of triumph.
Interment will follow all services in the Old Sardis Missionary Baptist Cemetery.
Deacon Henry Thomas Ivey, Jr. was born February 17, 1943, in Bread Tray Hill, AL, to the late Henry T. Ivey, Sr., and the late Delphine Martin Ivey. He confessed Christ as Lord and Saviour and united with the Old Sardis Baptist Church, Thomas served faithfully on the Deacon Boad until his health failed.
He was preceeded in death by his wife Betty Ivey, parents Henry T. Ivey, Sr., and Delphine Martin Ivey, his loving son, Thomas Treshawn Ivey, his loving brother Oscar Depriest Ivey, Sr., his nephews Howard Ivey, Jr., Derrick L. Ivey, Sr., and Rev. George Andrew Ivey.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughters, Karine Ivey, New York City, Gladys Ivey, (Chicago, IL), Elizabeth Ivey, Atlanta, GA, Serena Ivey-Gizaw (husband first name), Mountain View, CA, Adrianne Ivey (Oakland CA), Sophia Harris, Union Springs, AL, his sons, Travis Ivey, Sr. (JoAnn), Union Springs, AL, Matthew Ivey, (Union Springs, AL), Anthony Harris, Union Springs, AL, Grandchildren, great grandchildren.
Loving brothers, Howard Ivey, Sr. (Mary), Union Springs, AL, Bishop Ivey, Sr. (Esther), Union Springs, AL; a loving sister, Shelvia Ross (Solomon), Union Springs, AL; brother-in-law, Abey (Serena Ivey-Gizaw) Mountain House CA, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
