Carter Funeral Home announces the peaceful transition of Mrs. Gloria Dean Moultrie, (75), of Union Springs, Alabama.
Mrs. Moultrie passed away March 2, 2022, under the watchful care of her loving family along with members of her dedicated healthcare team at the Southern Springs Healthcare and Rehabilitation Facility
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, March 11, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home. The Farewell Celebration at will be held Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 11:00 am from the Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Union Springs, AL. Rev. Dr. Sidney D. Jernigan, Jr, Pastor will deliver the message of comfort and hope.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
Mrs. Gloria D. Moultrie passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Southern Springs Health & Rehab in Union Springs, Alabama on March 2, 2022 at the age of 75. She was the daughter of the late Eloria & Willie Frank Spivey of Macon, Georgia. She attended the Perote High School in Bullock County.
Gloria confessed and proclaimed Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, and joined Green Tabernacle of Macon, Georgia where she song in the choir. After graduation she was an airport employee where she met her future husband coming from military duty. She was united in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Richard Lee Moultrie, Sr. on July 4, 1965. This union was blessed with six children. Her loving husband preceded her in death on December 21, 1999. She later joined Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of the choir.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her children: Richard (Punchie) Moultrie, Jr., Jacqueline (Tony) Jackson Union Springs, AL, Tracey (Alvin) Gachett Opelika, AL, Volanteโ (Barry) Blackman Montgomery, AL, RoShonda D. Moultrie and LaShonda D. Moultrie Montgomery, AL; 10 grandchildren: Teshne Moultrie, Cordarius Moultrie, Kala Jackson, Nolan Gachett, Tarralyn Gachett, Brookelynn Blackman, Braylynn Blackman, LaShonda Pugh, Dwon Simmons, Tia Edwards and 8 great grandchildren. Devoted siblings brother Cauia( Mary) Spivey Union Springs, AL; sister Sybily Clay and brother Martin Spivey Macon, Ga; extended sisters Ella Mae McGlown and Shelvia Ross; sister-in-law Sarah Coleman and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She cared deeply for her family and neighbors. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, doing hair, and cooking. She was a true baker, concocting the most delicious cakes and pies. She was well known for her Sweet Potato Pies, Egg Custards, Banana Pudding along with the best Sour Cream Pound Cake you ever tasted. She also had a passion for helping children. She was an amazing daycare provider where she loved them like her very own. She was known to many as " Ma Moultrie". Ma Moultrie had her on special way of instilling the first steps of education to every toddlers life that she came in contact with and of course they enjoyed her cooking.
