Obituary For Gerald Culpepper
Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Gerald Culpepper.
Mr. Culpepper, 81, of Fitzpatrick, Alabama quietly transitioned into eternity on February 28, 2021 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Celebration of Life Services and Interment will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 12 noon from the Oak Grove No 4 Missionary Baptist Cemetery. Pastor Anthony C Williams will deliver the message of comfort and acceptance.
Public visitation will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
All visitation and services will be conducted exercising prescribed social distancing protocols including the use of appropriate facial coverings.
Upon completing a lifelong journey on this earth, Gerald Culpepper transitioned on to an eternal life with his Lord on Sunday, February 28, 2021.
Gerald lived a full life as a son, brother, husband, father, soldier, uncle, grandfather, brother-in-law, deacon, friend, and numerous other titles.
Gerald was proceeded in death by his parents, Johnnie Lee Culpepper and Mattie Chanley, sisters Geraldine Willrich and Clarice Anderson, brothers Clarence and Tommy Culpepper, daughter Tracy Culpepper Andrews, and a prior wife Willie Ann Culpepper.
He leaves to mourn a loving and devoted wife of 13 years Elizabeth Powell Culpepper, Fitzpatrick, Alabama, brother Willie Culpepper (Denise), prior wife Florine Walker, sons Timothy Culpepper and Jason Culpepper, daughters Melissa Culpepper-Neisser (Robert), Berlinda Culpepper-Lowder (Ryan) and Monica Culpepper-Sales (Kelsey, 26 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gerald’s marriage to Elizabeth gained him four stepchildren, Jeffrey Howard (Patricia), Ronald Howard (Loretta), Patricia Garrett (Andre) and Orlando Howard (Cynthia) 9 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren, and two sisters-in-law Mary Brown and Marie (Sally) Jones. Although he loved all kids of his family, he had a special place in his heart for a great grandson named Ian Howard, that he affectionately called “Little Man”.
Gerald was born in Willis Texas where he accepted Christ at an early age and served faithfully as a deacon. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. While in the military, he served as a Drill Sergeant which made him very attentive to detail, strict and organized. He retired from the Georgia National Guard and Dolly Madison in Columbus, Georgia. Gerald was going to make sure that his vehicles were full of gas and clean, his lawn well maintained, tools organized, and he being well dressed. Gerald had a smile that would brighten a room, a kind heart, and would do anything for anyone, but he would speak his mind.
