With humble respect, Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Minister Georgie Thornton, 65, of Union Springs, Alabama on March 28, 2019 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Celebration of life services will be held Saturday April 6, 2019 at 11 a.m. from the sanctuary of House of Light Church International of Union Springs, Alabama.
The message of comfort and strength will be delivered by Apostle Morris Thornton Sr.
Interment will follow in Mason Cemetery.
Minister Georgie Thornton will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Public visitation will be held Friday, April 5, 2019 from to 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
Born October 8, 1953, Georgie Shepherd Thornton entered life to the parentage of Lillie Mae Shepherd and George Washington Powell.
Continuous memories are left to her loving and devoted mother and father Rev. Henry J. Fowler and Lillie Fowler of Union Springs, Al; Three children, who will cherish her life forever, Chandra (Rick) Tolliver; Tiffany (Willie) and Corey D. Thornton. Two grandchildren, LaShondra and Joshua Tolliver; Father-in-Law, Willie L. Borders, Union Springs, AL; Mother-in-Law, Willie G. Tolbert, Montgomery, Al. Brothers-in-law, Willie (Helen) Goodwin ,Columbus, GA, Curtis Thornton, Tuskegee, AL., Lysander Thornton; Montgomery, Al., Homer (Shirley) Borders; Union Springs, AL., Sisters-in-law. Betty Shepherd; Union Springs, Al., Diane Franklin; Union Springs, Al., Ruby (Kennon) Tuck, Montgomery, Al., Abbie Thornton, Charlotte, NC.; Alice (Henry) Williams, and Loris Thornton both Montgomery, Al. An extended son whom she loved dearly; Je'Norris McKinnes; her beloved childhood friend Hattie Shepherd; and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
