"Servant of God, Well done...." Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Deacon George Delbridge, Jr., 82, of Union Springs, Alabama on May 1, 2019.
Services celebrating his earthly life will be Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 2:00 PM from the sanctuary of the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church of the Aberfoil Community.
The message of triumph will be delivered by the pastor, Hawthorne Reed.
Interment will follow all services in the Elizabeth Baptist Cemetery.
Deacon Delbridge will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Public visitation will be held Friday, May 10, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Mortality
George Delbridge Jr. was born to the late George Delbridge Sr. and Laura Delbridge-Cowan on March 3, 1937.
Confession
He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined the Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. G.W. Smiley. He served actively on the Deacon Board up until his transition.
Marriage
On July 6, 1958 he united with his life partner the late Voncile "Bonnie" Delbridge.
Employment
He retired from Beau of America formally known as Columbus Mills. He then gained employment at the Bullock County Hospital.
Immortality
"For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." 2 Corinthians 5:1 On May 1, 2019 his body contained a leak that was irreparable by man. On this day at University of Alabama Hospital in Birmingham, he left his mortal part to be reunited with his wife Voncile and their daughter Elaine Delbridge in God's care.
Memories
His precious memories are left in the hearts and minds of his two sons George "Boley" Delbridge, Virginia Beach, VA, Bryant Delbridge (Lanette) , Union Springs, AL: four daughters Delinda Lane, devoted daughter Jacqueline Delbridge, both of Union Springs, AL, Wanda Jean Delbridge, of Montgomery, AL, and Laurie "Tawana" Delbridge of Troy, AL; one brother Samuel (Gloria) Cowan, three sisters to include one devoted sister Hazel Gosha, Evangelist Sammie (Min. Paul) Walker, and Lucille Cowan, all of Union Springs, AL, three brother-in-laws Dea. Richard Rogers of Midway, AL, John D (Gloria) Thornton and Frank Thornton of Louisville, KY and one sister-in-law Adna (Charles) Thomas of Akron, OH, fourteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one truly devoted friend Willie A. Reed Baker, a host of other non-biological grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a countless number of friends.
