The Caring Staff of Carter Funeral Home announces the peaceful transition of Mr. Eugene Smith of Tuskegee, Alabama.
Mr. Smith transitioned into eternity on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at the age of 73.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Monday, May 12, 2025 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Carter Funeral Home, 302 Carter Street, Union Springs, AL.
The Graveside Farewell Life Celebration will be held, Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 11:00am at the St. Paul Baptist Church Cemetery, 14650 Co. Rd. 2, Tuskegee, Al.
Eugene Smith was the sixth child born to Early Green Smith, Sr. and Ruthie Mae
Harris Smith on December 6, 1951 in Macon County, AL (Armstrong Community).
Eugene confessed his belief in Christ at an early age and united with the St. Paul
Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Reverend Robinson.
On May 29, 1970, he graduated from South Macon High School in Roba, Alabama
and started his military career with the United States Army. After an honorable
discharge, Eugene was employed for 35 years at the VA Medical Center in
Tuskegee, Alabama.
Eugene’s journey in this life ended on Sunday, May 4, 2025 at Baptist Medical
Center East in Montgomery, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents;
three brothers, Early Jr., Charlie, and Bobby Smith; three sisters, Yvonne, Vera,
and Shirley.
Eugene leaves two beautiful children to cherish his memories: Michael (Antjuana)
Smith, Columbus, GA; and Shineka Smith, Tuskegee, AL; two brothers, Felix
Smith, Akron, Ohio; and Edward Tony (Shavon) Smith, Graceville, FL; three
sisters, Rafenia (Gilbert) Scott, Charlotte, NC; Linda (Marvin) Smith, Tuskegee,
AL; Martha (Willie) Joyner, Tuskegee, AL; five grandchildren, Raveign Lee,
Rasheena Lee, Spartanburg, SC; Michael J. Smith, Washington, D.C.; JaNia
Smith, Tuskegee, AL; and Brayden Renfroe, Auburn, AL; one Aunt, Mary
Dickerson, Union Springs, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other
relatives, neighbors and friends who he loved so dearly.
