Carter Funeral Home announces the peaceful transition of Mrs. Ethel Mae Borders, (91) of Union Springs Alabama.
Mrs. Ethel Mae Borders, transitioned into eternity on December 11, 2021 at Baptist East Medical Center, Montgomery, AL.
Preceding her in death are her parents, three children, Mary Borders Fort, Tommie Borders, Jr., and Henry Scott, Jr. her brothers and sisters, Richard Baker, Henry Baker, William Baker, Tommie Baker, Clemmie Baker, Mattie Lou Jenkins, Evergreen Johnson, Susie Brown, and Annie Bell Youngblood.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, December 17, 2021, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Celebration will be held Saturday, December 18, 2021, at 2:00 pm from the Old Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, Union Springs, AL. Pastor Rev. Dr. James Gochett will deliver the message of comfort.
Interment will follow in the Old Sardis Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Ethel Mae Borders was born February 10, 1930, to the late William Baker and Annie Lee Burton Baker of Union Springs, AL. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was honored to be recognized as “The Mother of the Old Sardis Missionary Baptist Church’”
Mrs. Ethel Mae Borders was a loving and kind person. Ethel Mae cherished the bonds of family. She was a loving mother to ten children and an outstanding supporter for her siblings.
Left to honor her legacy and cherish her precious memories are seven children, Annie Kate Borders, Union Springs, AL, Josie Faye Terry, South Field, Michigan, Edna Jean Borders Shell, Union Springs, Alabama, Mattie Louise (Dwight) Sylvers, Southfield, Michigan, Lela Mae Borders (Irvin Foster) Union Springs, Alabama, Diane Borders, Union Springs, Alabama, and Beverly Alford, Roseville, Michigan; two loving siblings, Annie Grace Youngblood (Joe) , Union Springs, Alabama and Ola Bell Jackson, Detroit, Michigan Ethel Mae was loved by sixteen grandchildren, twenty- nine great grands and two great great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
