Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Ernest J. Tarver, 72, of Tuskegee, Alabama on July 23, 2019.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at 11:00 am from the sanctuary of the County Line AME Zion Church,
Pastor, A.R. Cannon will deliver the message of triumph.
Interment will follow in the County Line AME Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Tarver will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Public visitation will be held Monday July 29, 2019 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Ernest James Tarver, the oldest child of the late Alonzo Tarver and Annie Mae Posey Tarver, was born on June 9, 1947 in Barbour County but grew up in Bullock and Macon counties. He was the oldest of six children.
Two siblings preceded him in death: a sister, Eva J. Patterson and a brother, Vaughn C. Tarver Sr. He accepted the Lord and Savior and joined County Line African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.
Ernest and Clara Swift was joined in holy matrimony on July 7, 1970. To this union two precious and beautiful daughters were born.
Ernest loved to get dressed up “clean as he would say” and smell good, listening to gospel and jazz music, love being outside, tinkering with cars, traveling, laughing, being with his family and having fun. His nephew Derrick “Bubba” and former co-workers called him “Bup” that brought a smile to his face. He retired from the Water/Waste Department Utilities Board of Tuskegee and City of Tuskegee after 42 years of dedicated services.
He entered into eternal rest in the Lord’s presence on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 in Auburn, Alabama.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving, devoted and beautiful wife of 49 years, Clara S. Tarver; three daughters, Cassandra Tarver-Ross, Powder Springs, GA, Alicia V. Tarver and Shasta Patterson, both of Tuskegee;, AL two loving grandsons, Shamario Ross, Powder Springs, GA and Cameron Tellis, Tuskegee, AL; 3 granddaughters, Shakair Patterson, Shontavia Patterson, Shakila Pelham; three great grands, Za’Marien Pelham, Karlie Jones, Zy’Lan Pelham all of Tuskegee, AL two brothers, Willie Lee (Victoria) Tarver, Jerry (Vernester) Tarver; one sister, Wylean Tarver all of Tuskegee, AL; extended family by marriage, a kindhearted mommy, Alice Swift; two spontaneous road dogs sisters, Joann Swift and Jimmie S. Wilson both of Tuskegee, AL; additional sisters and brothers, Mary Chance, Apopka, FL, Mildred Swift-Banks, Clarence (Ida) Swift, Gilbert Swift, all of Tuskegee, AL, Shirley (Thomas) Peebles, Detroit, MI, Evelyn Law, Huntsville, AL, Eddie Ligon, Apopka, FL, Otis Wilson, Shirley Tarver and Geraldine Stinson, all of Tuskegee, AL. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, a longtime friend, Leonard Pitts and former co-workers of the Utilities Board of Tuskegee.
