Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Edward Mays, Jr, 23, of Union Springs, Alabama on August 15, 2020.
Known by several as "EJ", Edward transitioned into eternity in Montgomery, Alabama.
Celebration of Life of Services and interment will be held Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 11:00 am from Mason Cemetery.
The eulogy will be delivered by Pastor Arnather Baxter of the Greenwood and Greater Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Churches.
EDWARD ORLANDO MAYS, JR. affectionally known as “EJ” and “Bella” was born at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama on January 8, 1997. He transitioned from this life on August 15, 2020 at Baptist Medical Center South, Montgomery, Alabama. He professed Christ at an early age when he joined the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Roba, Alabama. He enjoyed singing in the church choir and singing solos.
He is preceded in death by his grandfathers: Master Sgt. Willie Clyde Swanson, Rev. Willie Oscar Milbry, and August Hicks, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Cornelia M. Johnson and a devoted father, Edward O. (Irene) Mays, both of Montgomery, AL; one sister, Cadeshe Mays, Montgomery, AL; grandmothers: Momma Ruby Swanson and Rosie Hicks, Union Springs, AL; one niece, Alana Mays and one nephew, Brayden Fair; uncles: Timothy Milbry, Powder Springs, GA, Andre (Lucinda) Porter, Prattville, AL, Willie (Cassandra) Milbry, Union Springs, AL, Willie Taylor, Manhattan, KS, Reginald (Dianne) Johnson, Union Springs, AL, Alford Crawford, Huntsville, AL, Morris Upshaw, Union Springs, AL; aunts: Ardenia Crawford and Vanessa Townsend, Union Springs, AL; a caring and loving Pastor, Rev. Arthur L. Jones, Union Springs, AL; and a host of cousins, great aunts and uncles, and friends.
