Carter Funeral Home humbly announces the transition of Deacon Daniel Lee Smith, 61 on January 23, 2020.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday February 1, 2020 at 11:00 am from the sanctuary of the Mt Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
Words of comfort and acceptance will be rendered by the Pastor, Rev. James N. Robbins, Sr.
Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Cemetery.
Deacon Smith will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Public visitation will be held Friday, January 31, 2020 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Deacon Daniel Lee Smith was born on March 27, 1958 to the late Mrs. Mary Allums Smith and Mr. Willie Lee Smith, Sr. He joined the Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his death.
Deacon Daniel (affectionately known as Butch) was a very active member in the church. He was the Acting Chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School Superintendent, BTU Teacher, Usher, Mission Member, Sunday School/BTU van driver, janitor, and maintenance man.
He departed his earthly life on January 23, 2020 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Alabama.
He leaves to cherish his memories two daughters, Stacy (Dewayne) Williams and Yvette Robbins, both of Montgomery, AL, one son, Adonis Smith of Union Springs, AL; three grandsons, Kaleb Foster, Kamari Tellis and Jeremiah Williams, all of Montgomery, AL, six sisters: Ruby Thomas, Mary (Willie) Parker, Martha (Martin) Cooks, Annie Thornton, all of Union Springs, AL, Jacquelyn (Ray) Phillips, Midway, AL, and Zora (Dylan) Nichols, Montgomery, AL, three brothers: Charlie (Lucy) Smith and James (Gwen) Davis, both of Union Springs, AL, Henry (Lorene) Rogers of Midway, AL, one aunt, Mrs. Sallie Holmes and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and some very special friends.
