Carter Funeral Home is humbled to announce the transition of Mr. Curtis L. McGowan, 46, of Troy, Alabama on August 31, 2019.
Mr. McGowan formerly employed with the Bullock County Commission passed away peacefully at the Southern Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, September 14, 2019 at 1:00 PM from the sanctuary of the Jones Chapel AME Church of the Omega Community, Rev John Cofield, Jr., pastor.
The message of comfort and acceptance will be delivered by the Rev. Darryl Andrews.
Interment will follow in the Kindred - Baldwin Cemetery.
Mr. McGowan will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Public visitation will be held Friday, September 13, 2019 from 2 pm until 7pm at Carter Funeral Home.
CURTIS LEE MCGOWAN was born July 19, 1973 to Ruby Kindred and the late Walter McGowan, Jr. He departed this earthly life on August 31, 2019.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined Jones Chapel A.M.E. Church. He was a former employee with the Bullock Co. Commission in Union Springs, Alabama.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandfather; grandmother; aunts; uncles; and cousin.
He leaves to cherish his memories his mother, Ruby Kindred; his sister, Priscilla Ware, Omega Community; his brother, Isaac McGowan, Banks, AL.; two nieces: NaKiaya Beeman and Jerrica Ware, Omega Community; two nephews: Kamari Beeman and KeJuan Beeman, both of Omega Community; three aunts: Effie Smith, Union Springs, AL., Susie Hough, Detroit, MI., and Dorothy Kindred, Birmingham, AL.; three uncles: William (Brenda) Kindred, Birmingham, AL., Samuel (Shirley) Kindred, Westerville, OH., and Dock (Bobbie) McGowan, Banks, AL.; and a host of cousins, family and friends. A special friend, who he took as his brother, John Johnson, Banks, AL.
