Carter Funeral Home respectfully announces the transition of Rev. Charlie James Parham,Sr, 62, of Midway, Alabama.
Born December 27, 1953, Charlie was a member of the Bullock County High School Class of 1973.
He passed away peacefully at his residence, October 25,2016. Rev.Parham was the pastor of New Hope Missonary and Mt. Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Churches.
Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday.October 28, 2016 from 2 until 7 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.
Rev. Parham Will lie in repose one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday October 29,2016 at 1pm from the Bullock Career Technical Center, East Blackmon Avenue Union Springs, Alabama.
Words of comfort and praise will be rendered by his son in law, Rev Jerome Anthony, Sr., pastor of the New Bethel Missionary and the Mt Carmel Missionary Baptist Churches.
Interment will follow in the Mt Azure Baptist Cemetery.
Reverend Charlie James Parham, Sr. was born on December 27, 1953 in Bullock County, Alabama to the late George Parham, and the late Willie Mae Phillips Parham. He was raised by his grandmother, the late Alma Walker.
At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and united with Mt. Azure Missionary Baptist Church, Three Notch Community, Midway AL; under the care of the late Rev. E.L. Thornton.
In his early years, he served faithfully as Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, Usher President, Choir Member & President, Usher’s Federation President, Deacon, Care Taker of Church, etc. As his faith grew in the Lord, he accepted the call from the Lord to preach the Gospel to all men. On June 10, 2001 at 5:00 p.m., Rev. Parham preached his initial sermon at Mt. Azure Missionary Baptist Church. He was licensed to preach God’s Holy Word. On February 2, 2002, he was ordained as a Gospel Preacher to carry the Good News to all, under the leadership of Pastor Jerry Bennett.
During his ministry, Reverend Parham has pastored New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Union Springs, AL, New Elam Missionary Baptist Church, Highway 100 Mitchell Station, AL, and Mt. Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Midway AL. Reverend Parham was employed by Wayne Farms in Union Springs, AL for 38 years.
He answered his Master’s call on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ed Parham, sisters Bernice Parham, Bobbie Ann Parham, and Essie Fortson, great-granddaughter Kaitlyn Lamiracle Anthony.
He leaves to cherish his memories, wife: Maggie Parham. Four children: Kimberlyn Parham, Montgomery, AL, Charlie Parham, Jr, Union Springs, AL, Kivondra (Jeffery) Rivers, Montgomery, AL, and Veronica (Jerome) Anthony, Midway, AL. Grandchildren: Keondra (Rexton), Traderious, Niyanda, Jerome, Jr., Isaiah, Jayla, Amber, Kamiah, Tylia, Jahbari. Great-grandsons: Chase and Jaden. Godsons: Marcus Pugh and Jason King. Brother: George Parham, Midway, AL. Sisters: Sallie Parham, Midway, AL, Georgia Rodgers, Union Springs, AL, Charlie Mae (McKinley) Menefee, Tuskegee, AL, Alma Parham, Homestead, FL, Lola (Larry) Pye, Miami, FL, Josephine Shell, Haines City, FL, Judy Foster, Margaret Foster, both of Midway, AL. Brothers-in-Law: George (Loretta) Pugh, Baltimore, MD, Jeremiah Pugh, Riverside, CA. Sisters-in-law: Arinea Pugh, Jessie (Theodis) King, Ollie (Huey) Byrd, all of Union Springs, AL, Susie Williams, Riverside, CA. God-Brothers: William “Big Boy” Anderson, Reginald (Dianne) Johnson, Chester (Jessie Pearl) Townsend, all of Union Springs, AL. And a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other friends and neighbors.
