On November 15, 1960, Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Jackson, Sr. were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Bettie Ann Jackson. Bettie accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Mt. Hillard Missionary Baptist Church in Union Springs, AL. She received her education in the Bullock County Public School System, and was a graduate of the Bullock County High School Class of 1979.
Bettie was employed with the Welsh Company in Union Springs, AL for several years. She was a fun-spirited person who enjoyed life to the fullest. During her earlier years, her favorite sport to play was softball where she was known as being one of the best shortstops. She also enjoyed fishing, gardening and farming. Although she loved all her family unconditionally, her passion was her nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

Tommy and Algertha Downing; and nephew, Shermane Jackson. Bettie answered her final calling from our Lord and Savior on April 14, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. She leaves to cherish her memories seven sisters: Carrie Bowens, Jeroline (Terry) Jackson, Johnzaline Jackson, Ruby Jackson, Shirley Jackson, Susie Jackson, and Annie Jackson, all of Union Springs, AL; four brothers: Alonza (Evelina) Jackson, Samuel (Letitia) Jackson, Willie Jackson and Tommy (Antoinette) Jackson, all of Union Springs, AL; two uncles: Bobby (Stacie) Downing of Middletown, New Jersey and Eddie (Terri) Downing of Syracuse, New York; six aunts: Elizabeth Braxton and Mary Jackson of Union Springs, AL, Mattie Mae Smith of Hardaway, AL, Mattie Gilberry, Ollie Harris and Emma Lou Downing, all of Haines City, FL; nieces and nephews: Cedric (Latoya) Downing, LaJuanda (Corey) Williams, Terry Jackson, Jr., Jermaine Jackson, LaTonya (Donald) Scott, Clifford Jackson, Quentin (Nicole) Jackson, James Jackson, JaDarius Pritchett, Alonza Hampton, Janaris (Nagatha) Jackson, Brandon Jackson, Sheronda Harris, Desmond Spann, Frederick Broadnax, LaQuisha Howard, Zanthia Pritchett, Bridgette Rover, Xavier Jackson, Samuel Jackson, III, Letiqua Jackson, Diaveon Jackson, Jamarion Jackson, Kelcey Jackson, Dareon Harris, Tommy Jackson, Jr., Tommy II, Joshua Jackson, Elijah Harris; a special lifelong companion William Holmes; two special friends: Carol Hampton and Pricilla Ware; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. Please accept my condolences. Nothing compares to the death of a loved one. Even Jesus was deeply grieved and gave way to tears when his friend Lazarus died. Just as he brought him back to life then, he has promised to bring others back to life in the promised resurrection at John 5:28,29. Knowing that there's hope even for our deceased loved ones can give us comfort and hope.
