Carter Funeral Home honorably announces the transition of Mr. Arthur “Bear” Walker, Sr of Midway, AL.
Mr. Walker completed this earthly journey in Montgomery, AL at the age of 69 years to begin a life of eternal peace with our Heavenly Father Jesus Christ.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, February 18, 2022, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Loved ones will assemble at Graveside to celebrate the new life of Mr. Arthur Walker, Sr. on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Great Hope Cemetery, Midway, AL. Pastor Rickey C. Jones of the St. James CME Church will officiate all services. Apostle John Coleman of the Living Word Church of Union Springs will deliver the eulogy.
To everything there is a season, time, and purpose. Today we assemble to celebrate the new life of Mr. Arthur Walker, Sr. A life of eternal peace with our Heavenly Father Jesus Christ. Brother Walker was born to the late Mr. Willie Lee and Mrs. Ruth Pugh Walker, Sr., Midway, AL.
Brother Arthur was introduced to Christ at an early age. He confessed Christ as His Lord and Savior at St. James C.M.E. Church, Midway, Alabama. He served and participated faithfully.
A T I M E T O BUILD UP... Bro. Arthur graduated from Bullock County High School. He had a passion for sports, especially the game of football. Bro. Arthur was an excellent football player. He played on the football team at Merritt High School and Bullock County High School. Bro. Arthur also had a love for music. He played the trumpet and marched in the band at Merritt High School.
Upon graduation, Bro. Arthur entered the workforce. He was employed by the local communication company (Union Springs Telephone Company). Bro. Arthur served in various position at the company. He retired as a skilled technician with forty years of service from the Union Springs Telephone Company.
As a hobby, Bro. Arthur enjoyed watching and driving race cars on the “Drag Race Track.” This time was also spent with his family. On several occasions his wife and children accompanied him to the track. He was a member of the Bullock County Racing Club. They participated in various activities to support the community.
A T I M E T O LOVE...Mr. Arthur was united in Holy Matrimony to Mrs. Callie Victoria Thomas. To that union, they were blessed with three wonderful children, Deborah, Victoria and Arthur, Jr., and one grandchild, Shania.
A TIME OF REST/PEACE...God called Bro. Arthur Walker home on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Throughout his time on this earth, he touched the lives of many along the way. Bro. Arthur Walker was proceeded in death by his parents Willie Lee Walker, Sr. and Ruth Walker; his brother, Willie Lee Walker, Jr., his three sisters: Georgia Walker Lewis, Mary Frances Walker Phillips and Armanda Walker Dawson.
Bro. Arthur leaves to cherish his memories to a devoted and loving wife of fifty- one years Callie; his daughters, Deborah Walker (Kyle) Brooks of Prattville, AL and Dr. Victoria Walker of LaGrange, GA; his son Arthur Walker, Jr. of Midway, AL; and his granddaughter Shania Walker. He is also survived by six siblings, three sisters, Regina Jackson of Midway, AL, Mary (John) Avery of Tampa, FL, and Margaret Young of Eufaula, AL; and three brothers, Moses Walker of Midway, AL, Joe (Janet) Walker of Miami, FL, and James Walker of Miami, FL; three Sister- In-Law, Charli Mae Seldon of Indianapolis, IN, Essie B. Thomas of Midway, AL and Mary Parker of Atlanta, GA; four Brother- In-Law, James Thomas of Montgomery, AL, Saint T. (Naomi) Thomas, Jr. of Union Springs, AL, Johnnie (Daisy) Thomas of Birmingham, AL and Robert (Linda) Thomas of VanBuren Township, MI; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bro. Arthur was fondly known by many as “Bear Walker.”
