Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mr. Arthur A. Burks of Union Springs, Alabama.
Mr. Burks, age 58, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023, in Montgomery, AL.
Mr. Burks, a member of the Bullock County High School Class of 1982 will always be remembered for his quiet smile and gentle spirit.
The Commemoration of Life will begin with a public visitation, Friday, March 17, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
The Farewell Life Celebration at Graveside will be held Saturday, March 18, 2022, at 11:00 am from the St. Luke AME Cemetery, Midway, AL. Rev. Cynthia Johnson, Pastor of the St. Luke AME Church will deliver the eulogy.
In accordance with recommended COVID-19 Protocols, all attendees are requested to utilize appropriate facial coverings, maintain social distancing, and minimize physical contact.
Mortality
Arthur Alexander Burks was born April 14, 1964 to Joe Thompson, Sr and the late Helen Burks Tarver.
Confession
He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined Wayman Chapel AME Church.
Education
Arthur was a graduate of Bullock County High School’s Class of 1982. He also attended The Alabama State University.
Marriage
On April 14, 1999, he united in holy matrimony to the late Nellie Pritchett Burks.
Employment
He was employed with Wayne Farms in Union Springs, AL and Keystone in Baker Hill, AL.
Immortality
Arthur made his transition to eternal life on Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Baptist East Hospital in Montgomery, AL. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Burks Tarver and son Desmond Burks.

A host of other relatives and a countless number of friends.
