With deepest sympathy, Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Mrs. Arie J. Collins, 77, of the Mt. Andrew Community, on June 8, 2019.
Her earthly life will be celebrated with homegoing services Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 12:00 noon from the sanctuary of the Center Ridge Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Darius J. Moore, pastor.
The message of comfort will be delivered by Pastor Larry Herron of the Deliverance Jesus is Coming Church of Colorado.
Interment will follow in the Center Ridge Baptist Cemetery, Midway, Alabama.
Mrs. Collins will lie in repose at the Church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.
Public visitation will be held Friday, June 21, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.
Arie Jean Collins was the first born to the late, Acie & Iresa Bell Williams on September 22, 1941 in Midway, AL. She departed this life on June 8, 2019 at Baptist South in Montgomery, Alabama.
Arie Jean joined Center Ridge Baptist Church at a young age and was a faithful member until her health failed. She was very active in the community after moving back to her hometown in 1965 from Birmingham, Alabama. She then began working for Phillips-Van Huesen (PVH) Corporation in Clayton, AL where she worked for over thirty years; was a member of the Ladies Aid Society; and an Eastern Star Member of Annie Williams Lodge 607. After retiring from PVH Corporation, she began working at a local daycare in Clayton, AL and eventually began in-home daycare services for a total of approximately 10 years. Many who knew her are also aware of her love of flowers, gardening, attending the Clayton Senior Center, and scrapbooking.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late, James Collins Jr. in 1967. To this union, four children were born. Her eldest, Aurelius Williams and Sonia Collins also preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her sweet memories with her two daughters, Karen Collins (Delano Johnson) of Midway/Eufaula, AL, and Dr. Shameka (Frantz Jr.) Dorestant of Oceanside, NY; one son, Randy (Izumi) Collins of Irving, TX; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; six sisters: Elease Floyd of Suwannee, GA, Bernice Robinson (Tommy Pierce) of Detroit, MI, Levornia West of Farmington Hills, MI, Shirley (Early Sr.) Akings of West Grove, PA, Ezella (Moses) Caldwell of Westland, MI, and Denise Williams of Midway, AL; four maternal aunts: Zera Lee Rodgers of Winter Garden, FL, Myrtle Jones of Detroit, MI, Mildred Shelton of Chicago, IL and Beatrice Dorsey of Detroit, MI; one uncle: John L. Cox, Jr.; six sister-in-laws: Rose Pearl Myers of Johnstown, PA, Willie Kate Walker of Rochester, NY, Nancy (Louis) Cain of Neshanic Station, NJ, Maybell Calloway of Spartanburg, SC, Shirley Ann Coleman of Harrisburg, PA, and Della Young of Irvington, NJ; three brother-in-laws: Melvin Herron of Richmond, VA, Henry (Lily) Herron of Blakely, GA, and Larry (Bernita) Herron of Aurora, CO; a devoted God-son LeGary Diggs of West Grove, PA, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends
