Carter Funeral Home respectfully announces the transition of Deacon George Parham, Jr, 64, of Midway, Alabama on November 12, 2019.

Deacon Parham an honorably discharged retiree of the United States Army was also a retired officer of the Barbour County Sheriff's Department.

Services celebrating his earthly Life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 12 Noon from the sanctuary of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church.

The pastor, Rev. Bruce Burks will deliver the message of comfort and strength.

Interment with full Military Honors will follow in the Mt. Azure Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Parham will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.

Public visitation will be held Friday, November 15, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.

Deacon George Parham Jr was born on March 8, 1955 to the late George Parham Sr and the late Willie Mae Phillips Parham in Bullock County, Alabama.

He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and joined the Mt. Azure Baptist Church, where he served as Deacon until his transition to eternal rest.

On July 12, 1980, he was joined in holy matrimony to his wife, the late Gloria Jean Johnson Parham whom he called his partner for 39 years.

George graduated from Bullock County High School and immediately joined the United States Military. He served in the US Army until September 1, 1992 when he retired as a Sergeant. On May 11, 2000, he received his Associates Degree in Applied Technology, with a concentration in Industrial Electronics Technology from George C. Wallace Community College.

George’s most rewarding accomplishment was his employment at the Barbour County Sheriff’s Office, where he worked for 23 years. He retired as Captain on May 15, 2019.

He answered his Master’s call on Tuesday November 12, 2019.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Gloria; his brothers Ed and Rev. Charlie Parham Sr; and his sisters Bernice, Bobbie, Alma Parham, and Essie Fortson.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, Deviroce Milbry, Huntsville, Alabama; Kawanna (Ronald) and Patrice Parham, Midway Alabama; Ashley Mangum, Tacoma, Washington; and Ka’Deria Parham, Cuthbert, Georgia; His step children that he loved like his own, Oronde Johnson Columbus, Georgia, and Derinda Johnson, Union Springs, Alabama; His grandchildren, Darquavious, Raekwon, Keiwon, DeMarkiss, Darcaija, DeMyah, Devorice, Devon, Deon, Daisah, Devon, Demonte, Angel, Ja’Brittany, Eric jr, and Kayse; His sisters, Georgia Rogers, Union Springs, Alabama; Sallie Parham, Midway, Alabama; Charlie Mae (McKinley) Menefee, Tuskegee, Alabama; Lola (Larry) Pye, Miami, Florida; Margaret and Judy Foster, Midway, Alabama; and Josephine Shell, Haines City Florida; A dedicated sister-n-law Sally Larkins; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends, which includes a few special ones: Willie Manuel, Henry Rogers, and Albert Grubbs.
