Obituary For Charlie Calloway

Carter Funeral Home respectfully announces the transition of Mr. Charlie Calloway, 86, a resident of Pecan Lane in the Peachburg Community, Union Springs, Alabama.

Mr. Calloway, born March 30, 1929 in Bullock County, Alabama passed away February 24, 2016.

Visitation for family and friends will be Friday, March 4, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Carter Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. from the sanctuary of the historic St. James C.M.E. Church, 98 Railroad Street, Midway, Alabama, Rev. Orlando Sims, Pastor. Words of comfort will be delivered by Rev. Keith Moore, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church, Mobile, Alabama. Interment will follow in the Sandtown Cemetery, Midway, Alabama.

A TIME TO BE BORN

Mr. Charlie Calloway, Jr. was born on March 30, 1929 to the late Charlie Rich and Daisy Calloway in Midway, Alabama.

A TIME FOR SALVATION

Charlie confessed Christ at an early age and became a member of the St. James C.M.E. Church and served faithfully until his health declined.

A TIME TO LOVE

Charlie was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Mrs. Willie F. “Mickey” Calloway for fifty-five years.

A TIME TO LEARN

Charlie was educated at the Old Merritt School located in Midway, Alabama. He later attended the Tuskegee Institute located in Tuskegee, Alabama and majored in Entry Level Carpentry on May 7, 1965.

A TIME TO REUNITE WITH LOVED ONES…

Charlie was dispatched by an Angel of God who peacefully retrieved his soul on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 to unite with his loved ones who preceded him in death; mother: Mrs. Daisy Calloway; father: Mr. Charlie Rich; his loving wife: Willie F. “Mickey” Calloway; and (1) one son: Irvin Calloway.

A TIME FOR MEMORIES

Charlie leaves to cherish his memories three (3) sons, Billy (Cynthia) Calloway of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Kenneth (Annie) Calloway and Christopher Smith both of Union Springs, Alabama; six (6) daughters, Daisy (Wilbert) Davis, Shirley (David) Streeter, Diane Johnson, Deborah (Kenneth) Jackson, and Gretta Calloway, all of Union Springs, Alabama and Caroline Pugh of Columbus, Georgia; one (1) godson, Rico Glasco of Columbus, Georgia; twelve (12) grandchildren; seven (7) great-grandchildren; one (1) brother, Otis (Elva Mae) Calloway of Midway, Alabama; one (1) sister-in-law, Winnie Owens of Hardaway, Alabama; a devoted friend, Annette Tucker of Union Springs, Alabama; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; including Maurice Tarver of the Great Hope Community.
