Obituary For Charlie Lee “Ham” Brown

Mr. Charlie Lee “Ham” Brown, 77, of Lanett, AL passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at his residence.

A Homegoing Celebration for Mr. Brown will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. EDT in the sanctuary of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, with the Dr. Lamar D. Johnson, Pastor serving as the Eulogist, Min. Arthur Charles Walker and Rev. Alford Booker, assisting.

The remains will lie in state at the church on Saturday, November, 16, 2019 from 12:00(noon) until the funeral hour.

The family is receiving friends at the residence of Mrs. Betty Sander, 606 20th Street, SW, Lanett, AL.

Public Viewing will be held on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Life’s Journey came to an end for Mr. Charlie Lee”Ham” Brown on Wednesday morning, November 6, 2019 in the comfort of his home.

Charlie was born March 24, 1942 to the union of the late William Henry Brown and Mozelle Brown Johnson in Roanoke, AL. Four siblings, William Henry Brown, Jr., Ida Miller, J.D. (Snow)Brown and Rueben Mack Brown preceded him in death.

“Ham”, as he was known, was a1961 graduate of Lanier High School, where he was the Quarterback of the football team. He was a lover of sports, especially, golf.

Charlie leaves to cherish his memories: one son, Melvin Grant Brown of Detroit, MI; one daughter, Vertina Webster of Miami, FL; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Jessie Hutchinson and Betty Sanders of Lanett, AL and Lizzie Scorggins of Atlanta, GA; one brother, Bobby Lee Brown, Sr., Lanett, AL and a host of other relatives and friends.
