Carter Funeral Home is humbled to announce the transition of Mr. Eric "Big Moose" Freeman, 58, of Union Springs, Alabama on Sunday, October 27, 2019.

Mr. Freeman, a resident of Holcombe Avenue passed away at Jackson Hospital.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 12:00 noon from the sanctuary of the Derry's Chapel A.M.E Zion Church.

The eulogy will be delivered by the pastor, Rev. Walter Snith.

Mr. Freeman will lie in repose at the Church one hour prior to Celebration of Life Services.

Public visitation will be held Friday, November 1, 2019 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.

Eric was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on October 28, 1960. He was the son of the Late Mr. and Mrs. George and Louise Freeman. He attended Bullock County High School through the 10th Grade where he was a member of the Bullock County High Marching band and played Jr. Varsity Basketball. He completed his Junior and Senior years of high school at Auburn High School where he was a standout basketball player. During his Senior year he led the Auburn High School basketball team to the 5A state finals. Eric was highly recruited by colleges throughout the nation. After graduating from Auburn High School he chose to attend The University of Southwestern Louisiana (USL), where he played Center and Forward. He later transferred and played for St. Louis University. While Eric was a very good basketball player, his hidden passion was music. He played trombone in the BCHS band. He also played drums, trumpet, guitar and he was taught piano by his Great Aunt, Susie Hitchie. Eric was a 1980 initiate of the Beta Nu Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc.

He is survived by his Brothers, Gregory (Stephanie) Freeman and Reginald Freeman, His Nephews; Darien Dunham, George Freeman II, and Gregory Freeman Jr. His Cousins; John Forman, Julius Foreman, and Jackie Foreman Brown.
