Obituary For Edward Eugene (Ed) Martin

Edward Eugene (Ed) Martin, 88, of Lanett, Alabama passed away on May 1, 2019.

The family will greet friends on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at 10:00 am EDT at Victory Baptist Church in Lanett, Alabama.

Funeral services will follow at 11:00 am EDT also at Victory Baptist Church.

Graveside services will follow at Oakwood Cemetery Annex in Montgomery Alabama on May 4, 2019 at 2:00 pm EDT. Reverend Stephen Grubbs will officiate.

Ed was born in Montgomery Alabama on August 11, 1930 to the late Ernest and Rebecca Martin. He was retired from Bell South after forty years’ service in Huntsville Alabama and was a Fifty-year member of the Lion’s Club. He was past Governor of Alabama Lion’s clubs and also held many other positions. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid reader, and loved to “tinker”. He also had a keen sense of humor and loved strawberry ice cream and Christmas time. He enjoyed volunteering for many different causes especially Camp Askah and other Lion’s Club causes. Ed was a member of Victory Baptist in Lanett Alabama.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents Ernest and Rebecca Posey Martin; his sister Mary Ruth Martin Bryant and niece Laura Bush. He is survived by his wife Polly Martin, daughters Deborah (Daniel) Schnarr, and Carol (Bruce) Lushbough; and many grandchildren.
