Obituary For Joseph William (Joe) Miller Jr.

Joseph William (Joe) Miller, 63, passed away on Thursday April 18, 2019 of sudden cardiac arrest on his beloved family land in West Point, Georgia. He was born October 12, 1955 to the late James William (Jamie) Miller and his loving wife Jean Hunt Miller. Joe grew up in West Point Georgia where he attended West Point Elementary school and was then in the first inaugural graduating class of Springwood High School. He graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain Management and Logistics in 1979.

Joe was a passionate sports enthusiast where he excelled in basketball, water and snow skiing, motorcycle racing and Nascar Motorsports. He was a true Auburn fan where he pledged full support to Auburn Basketball, Auburn football and his beloved fraternity of Brothers Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.

Joe’s passion for life was only exceeded by his love for his family and numerous (too many to count) friends. As a life long worker in the timber and lumber business, he and his late father truly excelled.

Joe is survived by his loving mother Jean Hunt Miller, his faithful and loving sister Amy (Rob) Walker, his two nephews Trey (Jessica) Walker and Jamie (Katie) Walker and his great nephews Brayden, Blayke, and Knox Walker, and a special lifelong friend, mentor, and life teacher Susan Pitts. He was preceded in death by his father James William (Jamie) Miller and his brother John David Miller.

The family gives all the praise and glory to God for Joe’s exceptional life and graciously extends a loving invitation to celebrate his life Tuesday April 23, 2019 with Visitation from 6:00 pm EDT until 8:00 pm EDT at Bluffton Funeral Services in Lanett, Alabama.

Joe’s celebration of life service will be held at First Baptist Church of Shawmut in Valley, Alabama on Wednesday April 24, 2019 at 11:00 am EDT.

Graveside services will follow at Marseilles Cemetery in West Point Georgia.

Reverend Chuck Anderson will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Self Help Harbor, P.O. Box 2716 LaGrange, GA 30241 and to First Baptist Church.

It is heartbreaking to lose my dear friend. But I know that Joe is awaiting his Christian family and friends in Heaven where I'll surely see him again. Praying for his precious Mother, sister and family. May God cover his loved ones with His peace and comfort.
