Deacon Solomon Marlow Sr., was born September 13, 1943 in Bullock County Alabama to Hattie and Theodore Marlow. Solomon accepted Christ at an early age at Haynes Chapel Baptist Church where he served as a faithful member until his untimely death. He held many positions at Haynes Chapel including Sunday School Teacher and Chairman of the Deacon Board for 36 years until his retirement in March 2019. He was a member of the Southern Travelers Gospel group and Bethel Lodge 123 as well as Bethel Pride 198.

Solomon worked with the Bullock County District IV for 33 years. He was known for being the “Mayor of Cornerstone” in which he won by one vote that just happened to be his own. His favorite sport was baseball and he enjoyed playing for the Cornerstone Tigers but when it came to Major League Baseball whoever won was his favorite team. He also enjoyed watching westerns, telling stories, and loved talking about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

On June 30, 1968, Solomon united in holy matrimony to the former Lillie Mae Mims. God filled and blessed this marriage of 50 years, 9 months, and 16 days with many wonderful memories and a lifetime of love.

Solomon was preceded in death by his father, Theodore Marlow; his mother, Hattie Marlow; daughter, Sharon Marlow; grandsons, Solomon Marlow Jr. II and Delvin Patterson; siblings, Eddie Marlow, Ruther Johnson, Felix Marlow, and Ida Mae Rivers.

Solomon lived a joyous and fulfilling life. He left his earthly home for his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Solomon leaves to cherish his precious memories, his devoted and loving wife, Lillie Mae Marlow; second Mother, Sarah Jasper; four children, Samuel Mims; Deacon Raymond (Taranisha) Marlow; Deacon Solomon (Batrinka) Marlow Jr.; Shelia Marlow; and two adopted sons, Charles and Curtis Marlow; one sister, Minnie Marlow; one brother, Willie (Diane) Marlow; one brother-in-law, Thomas (Sue) Mims; one sister-in-law, Ann Hope; neighbors, Fred Rivers Jr. and family; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

The Staff of Carter Funeral Home is honored to support the Marlow family with End of Life Services.
