Obituary For Thomas Francis Power Jr.

Thomas Francis Power Jr, 84, of West Point Georgia passed way on March 16, 2019 at his residence.

The family will greet friends on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 10:00 AM EST until 12:00 PM EST at Bluffton Funeral Services in Lanett, AL.

The visitation will be followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM EST at Reeds Chapel Baptist Church in West Point GA.

Interment will follow the service at Shadowlawn Cemetery in LaGrange GA.

Reverends Jeff McCartney and Max McCord will officiate.

Mr. Power was born in Cambridge Mass. 0n December 21, 1934 to Thomas Francis and Bridget Boyle Power.

Thomas worked for West GA Health Systems for 41 years before he retired in 2001. He had the honor of being the first male LPN to graduate from Troup Technical College. He was also an active Scout leader for “Troup 3” of the Boy Scouts of America. After retirement, he worked at “Hoofers” where he was able to interact with friends and family as he kept the buffet filled. Thomas loved to travel with his family and made several trips up the east coast and also out west to Las Vegas.

Thomas grew up in Cambridge Mass. where he graduated from Sacred Heart High School. After graduation he served his country by joining the US Army and was stationed at Fort Benning Georgia where he met his future wife, Barbara.

Thomas is survived by his daughters Deborah Bailey, Tracy (Chuck) Bain; son Charles (Wendy) Power; grandchildren Thomas Bailey, Amanda Green, Devin Power, Dillon Power, Taylor Ann Bain, Anna Grace Bain; great grandchildren Andrew and Caellum Bailey and Wyatt Chase; brothers Patrick (Betty) Power, Edward (Madeline) Power, and sister Honey (John) Kelleher.

He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas F Power Sr., Bridget Boyle Power; and grandchildren James and Nicole Pettus.

The family has asked that memorial donations be sent to the “Youth Fund” at Reeds Chapel Baptist church.
