David (Dave) Wayne Ausec, age 67, passed away at home in Winder, Georgia on Friday, June 5, 2026, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. With strength, determination, and an unwavering will, he fought until the very end. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Dave was born in Jeannette, Pennsylvania on April 30, 1959, to his beloved parents, Donald (Don) and Dolores (Mae) Ausec. He was welcomed into the family by two older brothers, Daniel and Donald, who became his lifelong best friends and constant companions.
He graduated from Hempfield High School in Pennsylvania in 1977. Before high school, he played baseball and football for the Jeannette Midgets and later played football for the West Hempfield Junior High Bulldogs. As a young man, Dave relocated to Colorado with a cousin, working for Coors, before returning to Pennsylvania. In the mid-1980s, he worked for Westinghouse until the company was restructured and relocated. From there, he made Georgia his home—living in Dunwoody, Buford, Bethlehem, and Pendergrass before finally settling in Winder.
Dave never knew what “idle time” meant. He was skilled in many trades and completed technical training with a specialty in electrical engineering. But if there was anything he couldn’t learn from books, he learned from the person who mentored him best—his father. Together, in their “down” time, they refurbished distressed homes and later managed them as rental properties. His experience with Westinghouse, along with his lifelong interest in electrical work and communications, led him to a fulfilling career with Olde Castle as an employee and eventually as a consultant after forming his own company, Austech.
He specialized in the installation and maintenance of Controlled Environment Vaults (CEV) and telecom sites, working with private entities and military bases across the United States and, at times, overseas. Dave truly loved his work, and he often viewed travel as an added bonus rather than an interruption.
Above all else, Dave was all about his family. He loved his wife, Kathleen; his daughter, Heather Lynn; his son, Sean David; and his brothers with his whole heart. He was the kind of person who always seemed to have the right tool, and he believed that when something needed to be fixed, it was important to do it the right way—even if it took longer or took more effort. He was a trusted friend to many.
Dave enjoyed playing slots, poker, and the long-standing family tradition of gathering for card games. He loved traveling and each trip was an adventure. He was proud of his collection of Case knives and also enjoyed the hope-filled pastime of panning for gold.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dolores Mae Ausec of Jeannette, Pennsylvania, and his son, Sean David Ausec of Gainesville, Georgia.
He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Ausec of Winder, Georgia; his daughter, Heather Lynn (Joshua) Brown of Hoschton, Georgia; his brother, Daniel (Susan) Ausec of Winder, Georgia; and his brother, Donald (Mary) Ausec of New Stanton, Pennsylvania.
His grandchildren will always be in awe of “Pap Pap.” He is remembered with love by Brayden, Hayley, and Grayson Brown, and step-grandchildren Amelia Phillips and Aurora Weldy, all of Georgia, as well as Reagan Korinek and Camille and Bennett Foreman of Florida. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive visitors at the Villas of Winder Community Center on Saturday, June 13, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. Per Dave’s request, there will be no funeral or burial. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the family’s homestead in Jeannette, Pennsylvania—where so many memories were made.
