Rahman R. Mason, 45, of Union Springs, Alabama, departed unexpectedly from his earthly home on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Alabama.

Rahman was born to Dewey Edward and Martha Rodgers Mason at John Andrew Hospital in Tuskegee, AL on August 13, 1973. He spent most of his life in Union Springs and was a 1992 graduate of Bullock County High School. He was a Correctional Officer at the Bullock County Correctional Facility in Union Springs AL. He was well-liked and respected by his colleagues and supervisors alike. He enjoyed watching sporting activities, but was particularly fond of football. One might say that he was a football enthusiast. He was humble, kind, and notably quiet.

Affectionately known to family and friends as “Buck”, Mr. Mason is survived by his daughter, Morgan Mason of Union Springs, AL; parents, Martha Jackson and Dewey Edward Mason both of Union Springs, AL; three siblings, Tracey Mason, Anthony Darnell Jackson (Jacqueline) and Karla Jackson-Dowdell (Marcus) all of Union Springs, AL; three aunts, Margaret Hazelwood, Chicago, IL, Virginia (Willie) Boyd, Newnan, GA, Mamie Mason, Montgomery, AL; two uncles, Ray Anthony Rodgers, Palatka, FL, and Hubert Rodgers, Okeechobee, FL; great-aunt, Annie Clyde Addison, Chicago, IL; great-uncle, Robert Addison, Buffalo, NY. He is also survived by a host of very special first-cousins who will cherish him and the memories they created together, and his childhood friend, Sean Dees of Montgomery, AL.

“Buck”, as he was affectionately known to family and friends has left an emotional void that will never be filled, but the precious memories created together will allow us to honor him by living purposeful lives.

Rahman was preceded in death by his loving stepfather, Darnell Jackson; grandparents, Simon and Annie Bell Rodger, and Theodis and Maurine Mason.
