Sarah Carolyn Oliver, 90, of Valley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at Lakewood Senior Living. She was born on December 1, 1935, in Fairfax, Alabama, to Theron and Edna Hurley.
Carolyn was a proud graduate of Lanett High School and built a remarkable career with Avon, beginning with door-to-door sales and rising to become a successful district leader. Her dedication and drive earned her numerous awards and opportunities to travel throughout Europe—experiences she treasured.
She found joy in gardening, decorating her home, and spending time with family and friends. Above all, Carolyn cherished the time she shared with her beloved husband, Charles. Whether traveling, relaxing at home, or enjoying their place on Lake Martin, those moments together meant the most to her.
Carolyn loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and was a faithful member of Shawmut First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Connie Nixon (Bill), and her son, Dale Brown (Janelle); her grandchildren, Matt Waldrep (Vicki), Jill Waldrep, Holly Rushing (Matthew), Caitlin Nixon (Tyler), and Janz Brown; and her great-grandchildren, Sydney, Reese, Culver, and Zander, along with two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Cooper Hurley (Carolyn).
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Oliver, and her parents, Theron and Edna Hurley.
The family extends a special thank you to Gary, Corey, and the compassionate staff at Lakewood Senior Living for their care and kindness.
A visitation is planned for Monday, April 20th at 2 PM EST with a funeral service to follow at 3 PM EST at Valley-Point Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Carolyn’s memory to Shawmut First Baptist Church or The Christian Service Center.
