It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Karuna Kothapa at the age of 78. She is now with the Lord.

Karuna was born in Bangalore, India and later made a life in America which she loved. She embraced change and new beginnings with courage and determination. Later in life she chose to pursue higher education and earned her bachelor’s degree. She had a successful career in hotel restaurant management and retail.

Karuna was a woman of many talents. She loved to knit and crochet, played the sitar and could sing Indian music. She lived a life marked by strength, independence, resilience, fire and fortitude with a deep personal charm that left a lasting impression on all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, daughter, brother and sister. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, who passed away peacefully more than ten years ago.

Over the decades, Karuna touched many lives through her work, her business, her travels, her friendships, and her family. Those who knew her and loved her, across the United States and around the world, will never forget her.

Her love, personality, fire and fortitude will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
