Obituary For Jesse LeRoy Philpot

We respectfully announce the passing of Mr. Jesse LeRoy Philpot, age 65, of 504 Granite Street in Hogansville on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Wellstar West Georgia Hospice in LaGrange.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 1:00 PM at St. Paul AME Church, 301 Poplar Street in Hogansville, Georgia. Rev. Willie J. Wynn, Pastor and Rev. Reginald Sims, Eulogist.

Public viewing Friday February 8, 2019 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM.

Interment will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 54, Hogansville.

Mr. Jesse LeRoy Philpot was born on January 22, 1954 in Troup County, Georgia to the late Mattie Mae Kelly Philpot and the late Eugene Philpot. He was preceded in death by his father, Eugene Philpot; his mother, Mattie Kelly Philpot; and two sisters, Helen Philpot Huffman and Linda Diann Gates. Throughout “Mug Head” life he was a real comedian, always making people laugh, because you never knew what was going to come out of his mouth. At family gatherings he was always the center of attention, as well as in his community he was always making people laugh. Jesse attended West End and Hogansville High School. Throughout the years he as employed by American Fence Product, Fabric Design and Botex.

Jesse leaves to cherish his loving memories to his loving and wonderful wife for over forty-one years, Gloria Price Philpot; one son, Kevis (Hattie) Price; two stepsons, Marichal (Angela) Price and Eric Gamble; one daughter, Olympia Price; three brothers, Moses Philpot, Charlie Philpot, Dennis (Lisa) Philpot and Bernie Jackson; two sisters, Rudine (James) Harrison and Jacqueline (Emmitt) Philpot Blackshir. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: one special grandson, Christian Williams; two special granddaughters, Kenyah and Keasia Price alone with Prichella and Ashleigh Crowder, Sequoyah Russell, Shyan, Keith and Journey Price, Davona, Monique and Ereeka Hopson, Mya Gamble, Ke-Ke Cameron and Justin McCants; and eight great grandchildren; mother-in-law, Emma Gamble; three sister-in-laws, Agetha Gamble, JoAnn Gamble and Shelia (Lum) Boyd; brother-in-law, Michael Gamble; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
