George Henry “ Boy” Lovelace, Jr.

George Henry “Boy” Lovelace, Jr., was born January 8,
1950, in West Point, Georgia, to the late George Henry “Blue”
Lovelace, Sr., and Lillie Bell Thomas Lovelace. He earned the
nickname “Boy” because he was the firstborn son after four
girls. On Thursday, September 25, 2025, George answered
the call from the Lord and departed this life at Wellstar West
Georgia Medical Center, LaGrange, Georgia .

George received his high school diploma from Harrison High
School in 1968. After graduating, he was employed with West
Point Pepperell for several years. He later founded his own
concrete finishing business in the 1980’s and continued to
operate it until the early 2000 ’s.

After retiring from work, George dedicated his time to his
family and to his church. He was a dedicated steward at
Keeney Memorial United Methodist Church, where he had
been a member since being a youth.

George, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend,
passed away surrounded by love and family. His life was
defined by his deep devotion to those he cared about and
his ability to bring laughter and joy to any gathering. “Boy”
cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and had a
gift for making others feel welcomed and appreciated.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ersla
Lovelace; sisters, Shirley Lovelace Kingu and Constance
Lovelace Smith; brothers, Raymond Lovelace and John
Lovelace; and three devoted friends, Levon “Bill Bo” Heard,
Charlie Shealey, and Johnny Bandy.

His legacy will be carried on by: his wife, Regina Smith
Lovelace; daughter, Winifred Lovelace Mitchell, and sons, Ron
Lovelace, Chauncey Smith (Annie), and Joq Smith (Kennesha);
grandchildren, Keyveshon Pruitt, Jasmine Lovelace, Shabre
Lovelace, Chauncey Smith, Jr. (Myrtis), Shaquaria Smith,
Ashanti Lovelace, and Rayshad Smith; great-grandchildren,
Peyton Flint and Malaya Webb, and other great-grandchildren;
four sisters, Janie Lovelace Ransom, Penny Lovelace Ward,
Yvonne Lovelace Mwikuta, and Jennifer Lovelace Copeland;
sister-in-law, Barbara Lovelace; brother-in-law, Aaron Smith,
Jr. (Anita); uncle, Schevron Travick (Betty); a host of nieces,
nephews, and cousins; a devoted friend, who was there to the
very end, Tyrone Patterson; the Old Men Card Club; Sidney
Flowers; Buford Traylor; and a host of other friends.

Funeral Services for Mr. George Henry “Boy” Lovelace, Jr. will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at 11:00 a. m.EST in the sanctuary of the Keeney Memorial UMC, 703 Avenue K, West Point, GA 31833 with Rev. Brenda Pritchett Rhodes, Pastor, Eulogist.

Interment will be held in the Marseilles Cemetery, 400-498 E- 12th, West Point, GA 31833


Public viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 30 2025 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 at the M. W. Lee Mortuary.
