Mr. Carlton L. Hargett, age 65, of West Point, GA, transitioned on September 12, 2025 at Jackson Hospital, Montgomery, Alabama.

Graveside Services for Mr. Carlton L. Hargett will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. EST in the Westview Cemetery, 800 Austin Street, West Point, GA, with Rev. Rodney Jones serving as the Eulogist and Rev. Charles Trammell, assisting.


Public viewing will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. EST until 6:00 p.m. EST at the mortuary.

Carlton Hargett was born on July 17, 1960, in Troup County, Georgia, to the late Willie Hargett and Bobbie Jones. He passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at Jackson Memorial Hospital, Montgomery, Alabama, at the age of 65.

Carlton attended West Point High School and later joined the United States Army, serving with pride. His time in the military was a testament to his commitment and love for his country.

He had a passion for the open road and spent many years doing what he loved—driving trucks. In his downtime, he especially enjoyed spending time with his favorite cousin, Wayne Jones, and sharing stories, laughs, and memories that will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Carlton was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence brought warmth and laughter to everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents.

He leaves behind two loving daughters, Ametris (Eric) Williams and Alicia McElderry, as well as two special daughters he raised as his own, Tracy Avery and Virginia (Roderick) Palmer. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who will carry on his memory with love; his loving siblings, Tammy Woody, Tommy Jones, and Jermaine King; uncle, James Jones, and aunt, Minnie (Greg) Trice, who will continue to honor his memory with love and pride. He also leaves behind a host of aunts and uncles on his father’s side, who cherished him deeply.

Carlton will always be remembered for his big heart, strong spirit, and the deep love he had for his family. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched.
