Mrs. Doris L. Williams Rea, age 77, of Lanett, Alabama, gained her wings into eternal rest on August 24, 2025 at EAMC-Lanier, Valley, Alabama.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Doris L. Williams Rea will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 12:00(noon) EST in the sanctuary of the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, 1601 Magnolia Road, Lanett, AL 36863, with Rev. Justin Freeman, Pastor, Eulogist.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Pubic viewing will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. EST until 6:00 p.m. EST at the M. W. Lee Mortuary.
Mrs. Doris Louise Williams Rea was born April 2, 1948, in Harris County, Georgia, to the late Virgil Williams, Sr. and Emma Louise(Hardy) Williams.
She graduated from Rehobeth High School in 1967 and started her career with West Point Pepperell, where she remained a faithful employee until its closing in 2007.
Doris was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Gene Douglas Rea on November 13, 1971, and to this union two children were born: a son and a daughter.
She confessed Christ at an early age and united with the Mount Hermon Baptist Church where she remained a faithful member until her death. As a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, her service included, member of the Young Adult Choir, Matron, Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer, Vacation Bible School Secretary, a regular attendee of the Adult Sunday School Class and Bible Study, and a faithful giver and supporter of her church.
Doris was a loving and caring person who was loved by many and opened her heart and home to many. She was affectionately known as a friend to all. Everyone who knew Doris understood the love she felt and showed to all her family and friends. That love and affection will truly be missed among all who knew and loved her. Doris loved the Lord and felt truly blessed with the years the Lord gave to her. On August 24, 2025, the Lord called her home.
She leaves to cherish her memories: A loving and devoted son and daughter, Demond L. (Patrice) Rea of Kennesaw, Georgia and Kizzie M. (Antonio) Rea – Dardy of Douglasville, Georgia; four grandchildren, Quintavious Rea of Lanett, Alabama, Kadarius Rea of Douglasville, Georgia, Elijah Rea and Spencer Rea of Kennesaw, Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Noah Whitley and Caleb Whitley of Lawrenceville, Georgia; four sisters, Mary G. Williams, Ernestine Upshaw, Minnie M. Day all of Louisville, Kentucky and Vivian A. ( and a devoted brother in law – Johnny) Nelloms of Lanett, Alabama; two special nieces, Sherry and Johona. A devoted friend, Annie L. Wright and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
