Julia F. (Smith) Varney 77

Born August 26, 1947, in Bangor, Maine, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2025, at home in Crawford, Georgia.

Julia, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully, joining her late husband, Alton E. Varney Sr., and her parents, John G. Smith and Evelena (Getchell) Smith.

Julia was born into a loving family and is survived by two sisters, Elizabeth Bryant and her husband Terry of Nevada and Emma Gordon of Florida. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her three children: Alton E. Varney Jr. of, Georgia , Marlene (Varney) Crouse and her husband Christopher of Maine, and Robert G. Varney and his wife Kaylie of Georgia.

A proud grandmother, she is survived by her five grandchildren: Zane Crouse of Maine, Audrey Crouse of Maine, Jessica L. Derosier and her husband Joseph of Maine, Arica Varney of Georgia , and Dakota Varney of Georgia . Julia took immense joy in her role as a great-grandmother, spending cherished moments with Eric, Aurora-Lynne, JT, Sahara, Eva, and Henry.

A memorial service is planned for the fall, where Julia will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Plymouth, Maine. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who remember her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love.
