We are saddened to announce the peaceful transition of Ms. Hilda Lacey on Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

Celebration of Life will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, July 11, 2025 in the Chapel of Wright’s Funeral Home with interment following in Hillview Memorial Gardens.

The Family will receive friends on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until service time.

Hilda Thornton Lacey was born on January 4, 1933, to Homer Lee Coker and Lela Vines Coker of Tallapoosa County, Alabama.

She loved God and was a faithful and dedicated member of Comer Baptist Church. Before retiring she was employed at Russell Corporation. She looked forward to Tuesday night PotLuck family gatherings. She really enjoyed the time she spent playing rook, and dancing the two-step, with her friends along with her Saturday shopping sprees at various yard sales. She was a lady of her word who meant what she said. Hilda was a great cook and was known for her yummy chicken and dumplings.

She peacefully transitioned home to be with the Lord on July 8, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Jerry Thornton and Paul Lacey, a daughter, Rhonda Thornton, a son, Randall Thornton, two brothers, Gaines Coker, Hoyt Coker and a special friend, Bill Parker.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her son, Richard (Gwen) Thornton, a loving and caring daughter-in-law, Teresa Terrell, grandchildren, Misti (Eddie) Bass, Christi (Jonathan) Florine, Gerron (Ashley) Thornton, Jerry (Brittney) Thornton, Lee (Allison) Thornton, Michelle Jones, 16 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren a host of nieces and nephews, and her loving fur baby, Bam Bam.
