Sandra Lee Crutchfield Henning, age 82, of Watkinsville, born November 4, 1942, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 21, 2025.

Sandy was born in Norfolk, Virginia to James “Ted” Crutchfield and Gladys Martin Crutchfield. She graduated as salutatorian from Virginia Beach High School and attended the College of William & Mary. She later attended Barry University in Miami, Florida and graduated valedictorian with a degree in nursing. She lived all over the United States but made Watkinsville, Georgia her home to be close to family.

Sandy was a devoted mother and grandmother, involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. She attended all the swim meets, football, soccer, baseball, and basketball games, as well as dance, band and chorus recitals, school plays, gymnastics meets, and softball games. She loved her big family, and they loved her.

Sandy was an independent person with great resilience. Her strength, warmth, and unwavering support were a constant source of comfort and inspiration to those around her.

Sandy is survived by five children: Mary K Henning, Patty Henning (Mark), Dan Henning (Cindy), Terry Gattiker (Eric), and Michael Henning (Karen); 12 grandchildren: Theodore Ritz, Hunter Ritz (Sophie), Taylor Fendig (Ben), Dillon Durden (Taylor), Chandler Durden, Riley Henning, Cassandra Henning, Jasper Gattiker, Emily Gulick (Ben), Patrick Gattiker, Cailyn Henning, and Peyton Henning; and two great-grandchildren: Arwen Ritz and Freya Fendig. She is survived by her brother, Bobby Harrison, and his family of Burlington, NC, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Her legacy will live on through her family and all those that knew her.
