Obituary For Ezzie Lee Woods Jr.

With humble respect, Carter Funeral Home announces the transition of Deacon Ezzie Lee Woods, Jr. 57, of Clayton, Alabama on November 10, 2018.

Services celebrating his earthly tenure will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 1:00 pm from the sanctuary of the Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Bruce Burks, pastor.

The message of comfort and strength will be delivered by the Rev. E. L. Heath , pastor of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Mt. Andrew.

Interment will follow in the New Bethel Baptist Cemetery.

Deacon Woods will lie in repast at the church from 12:00 until the funeral hour.

Public Visitation will be held Friday. November 16, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carter Funeral Home.

Ezzie Lee Woods, Jr. nicknamed “Bo”, was born October 9, 1961 to the late Ezzie Lee Woods, Sr. and Emma Lou Woods.

He was raised in Mount Andrew, Alabama and attended Clayton Schools. He was a 1980 graduate of Clayton High School and a 1984 graduate of Troy State University in Troy, Alabama. He confessed his acceptance of Jesus Christ at a young age, and was an active member of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Mount Andrew, Alabama where he served as a Deacon and Assistant Sunday School Teacher. Always a proud person, he labored in the work force for a number of years at Louisiana Pacific in Clayton, Al.; The Eufaula Adjustment Center; the Solid Waste Department in Clayton; and upon his death, he had found a home with the Department of Corrections, Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton, Al. He died on November 10, 2018 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving son, Darius Marcel Woods, Clayton, AL.; a loving stepmother, Versie Lee Woods, Clayton, AL.; one sister, Carrie (Henry) Williams, Clayton, AL.; four brothers: Dennis (Ninette) Woods, Headland, AL., Michael Phillips, Clayton, AL., Joseph (Val) Wilson, Bullock County, AL., and Eugene (Andra) Phillips, Panama City, FL.; one maternal great-aunt, Lessie Bell Efford, Louisville, AL.; paternal uncle, Bobby Woods, Midway, AL.; maternal uncle, Alexander Person, Eufaula, AL.; aunts: Diana W. Spencer, Midway, AL., Ella (Solon) Stevenson, Chicago, IL., Maxine Tellis, Willie Mae France, Pearlia Dozier, Bessie Patterson, Miday, AL., Betty (Hosea) Wilson, Mary Wilson, Gary, IN., Gloria (Willie) Mitchell, Earlene McClain, Stephenie (Ocie) Simmons, East Chicago, IN., Carolyn Hallaburton, Pinkie (Clinton) Biggers, Atlanta, GA.; like a sister, Darlene (Jeffery) Bronson, Smuteye, AL.; devoted friends: Lora and the Lightner Family, Clayton, AL.; special cousin, Larry Rogers; special friends: Andrew “Buddy” Harris, Ms. Lucy Young and Jeniece; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
