Carrie Ophelia Mitchell Oliver, aka “Feedom”, was born to the union of Mr. Inez and Mrs. Carrie McCants Mitchell on March 24, 1931 in Valley (then Fairfax), Alabama. At an early age, she confessed Christ as her personal Savior and joined Rehoboth Baptist Church. She was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Harold Oliver on February 21, 1952 and this union was blessed with three daughters.

After her marriage, she began as a devoted full time housewife and mother. She was a very talented seamstress and made most of the clothes for her and her daughters. She also enjoyed baking and baked cakes for most occasions – from coconut, to caramel (Dad’s favorite), to any color velvet cake you preferred.

She later began to work outside the home. Her work tenure was with West Point Pepperell at Langdale Mill and the Chambers County Extension Program. She also sold Avon and was a Girl Scout Den Mother.

Mrs. Oliver loved her flower gardens and took great pride in them, winning “Yard of the Month” several times. On a good day, you would see her creating beauty in her yard. She was a sharp dresser with gloves, large fashionable hats and high-heeled shoes to match.

Mrs. Oliver loved her family, friends and almost anyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her cherished brother, Willie Curtis Mitchell, her loving and devoted husband and her cherished oldest daughter, Carolyn Yvonne Ross all of Valley, Alabama. Mrs. Carrie O. Mitchell Oliver departed this life on Monday, November 5, 2018 after a brief illness at Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories and will be dearly missed by: her two daughters, Inez Yvette Brooks, Lanett, AL and Carrie Oreatha (Rick) Carr, Atlanta, GA; five grandchildren, Ebony Brooks, Columbus, GA, Hillmon Brooks, Jr. and Harold Brooks both of Lanett, AL, Yuri Brooks and Mequel Ross both of Valley, AL; seven great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Eddie Ross, Valley, AL; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Goodmorning im one of Jw Witnesses. I’m sorry for your loss. Acts 24:15 “There will be a resurrection”. Imagine a time when there will be no more death and our loved ones will be resurrected.

we are so sorry to hear of your lost. In times like these we can draw comfort from the Bible. It tells us at 2Cor.1:3,4 "Praised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God Of all comfort, who comfort us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others in any sort of trial with the comfort that we receive from God". May you and your family be comforted in your time of lost. J Wms.
