Deacon Andy McCulloh, age 96, of Valley, AL, gained his wings into eternal rest on June 2, 2025 in Lawrenceville, GA.

Funeral Services for Deacon Andy McCulloh will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 1487 Lee Road 372, Valley, Alabama 36854 with Rev. Corey Huguley, Pastor, Officiating and Rev. George McCulloh, Eulogist.

Interment will follow in the Rehoboth Church Cemetery, 206 Huguley Road, Valley, Alabama 36854.


The remains will lie in state at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. ET until the funeral hour.


Public viewing will be held on Friday, June 6, 2025 from 12:00 noon ET until 3:00 pm ET at the M. W. Lee Mortuary.


Visitation will be held Friday, June 6, 2025 from 4:30 p.m. ET until 6:30 p.m. ET in the sanctuary of the Rehoboth Baptist Church.

Deacon Andy McCulloh was born on May 17, 1929 to the late Ocie Lee and Sarah (Jones) McCulloh in Blanton, Lee County, Alabama.

He joined Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and later moved his membership to Rehoboth Baptist Church where he served faithfully as Church Treasurer and Chairman of the Deacon Board for many years until his wife’s health failed. As a youth, Andy, along with brothers and a cousin, traveled the Southeast United States performing as the gospel singing group, The McCulloh Boys. He honorable served in the United States Army rank CVI from 1950-1952 during and in the Korean War theatre.

He was united in holy matrimony to the late Jennie Lou Abercrombie to which four children were born, one of which preceded him in death.

Andy worked for West Point Pepperell Mills, Inc., Riverview Mill, for more than 30 years, becoming a true servant-leader as a Shift Supervisor before retiring. After leaving West Point Pepperell, he worked more than 35 years for Mountville Mills, LaGrange, Georgia retiring in 2015.

Additionally, he was a Master Barber at Brooks Barber Shop, Valley, Alabama for more than 50 years cutting and shaving countless men and boys and providing grooming services for the elderly, sick and homebound community members. He was also a School Bus Driver for Chambers County, Alabama School District for more than 20 years. Along with his wife, Jennie Lou, he was a business owner of the Head to Toe Salon in West Point, Georgia. He enjoyed lake and deep sea fishing, rabbit and squirrel hunting, gardening, making jellies and baking cakes. Most of all serving God, his calling to fulfill, along with caring for his family, friends and community was Andy’s greatest joy, love and lifelong passion.

On June 2, 2025 his soul peacefully departed this world leaving to cherish his memory: two daughters, Tolandra McCulloh Graham (James) of Valley, Alabama and Thecla Adair Hicks (Stephen) of Lawrenceville, Georgia; two sons, Andy Derrick McCulloh (Angela) of Hampton, Georgia and the late Kenneth Undra McCulloh of Hampton, Georgia; four sisters, the late Stella Mae Tyner (John) of Valley, Alabama, the late Pearl Varner (Gentle) of Shawmut, Alabama; the late Fannie Boyd (Tommy) of Chicago, Illinois; and Helen Jones of Bremen, Georgia; sixbrothers, the late Mark McCulloh (Ruby/Eula) of Valley, Alabama, the late John McCulloh (Willett/Cora) of Oak Park, Illinois, Haynie McCulloh (Lily) of Chicago, Illinois ,the late James McCulloh of Chicago, Illinois, the late Fate McCulloh (Dorothy) of Chicago, Illinois ,Ocie Lee McCulloh, Jr. (Frances) of Chicago, Illinois, and Jessie McCulloh (Susie), of Chicago, Illinois; five grandsons, R. Monta Hill (Sewanda) of Snellville, Georgia;Reverend Doctor James S. Hill (Jasmine) of Newnan, Georgia, Kenneth Bernard Howell (Shandra) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Theron O’Halloran of San Antonio, Texas, and Devin, T. Hicks of Atlanta, Georgia; two granddaughters, Abena Graham of Valley, Alabama and Danielle Hicks (William) of Lawrenceville, Georgia, four great-grand daughters; three great-grandsons; one great-great-grandson on the way and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
